"𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐌𝐎𝐌, i'm home!" you yelled (but not too loud, or else your mom would get crazy mad)."hey hun!" your mom walked down the stairs, and smiled when she saw your face. you could see the restlessness in her eyes. "i brought some pizza last night, it's in the fridge."
"oh," you said, "busy in the hospital yesterday?"
her eyes trailed down. "yeah, had lots of emergency patients coming in. i'm sorry i wasn't here last night."
your mom was a doctor, working in a large hospital, which meant she was really busy, to the point where she would come home at two in the morning, or even later on night shifts.
you didn't mind too much on it, you had learned to be more independent from an early age. and you knew your mom worked so hard already, you couldn't bear for her to work harder for you.
your dad, well... let's say he wasn't always around. he was a neurologist who specialized in research and experimentation on neurological processes. and he was a big-time guy, which meant, he was really busy too.
currently, he was on some longass trip around europe, meeting similar scientists on a large research experiment that was being conducted.
you didn't really dislike him or anything, you were just disappointed he chose work over his family like that.
but despite that, he was your role model, your inspiration. he always had this fascination and passion about everything he did, especially his career. his passion inspired you. he always reminded you that a successful life came through hard work, and if you wanted something, you'd have to work for it.
that's why you worked so hard, studying your ass off because you wanted to excel in your academics, and also lead a career like that too.
but you didn't want to prioritize career over family how he did. you wanted to have a significant career, but make time for your family. that had been your goal. though sometimes, it was difficult juggling studies with your personal life with your mom and friends.
"i told you, it's okay mom, i was with my friends anyways." you touched her forehead. "you didn't have to bring the pizza, you know. i wanted you to rest."
she rolled her eyes and pushed your hand away, that sassy personality you inherited from her showing. "oh, i'm fine. how was school?"
you nodded, smiling. "tiring, what else?"
your mom patted your shoulder. "remember, if there's anything you don't understand—"
"'ask the teacher and revise it thirty more times', yeah yeah, i know mom."
your mom started walking towards the fridge. "always excel in your studies!"
you smiled and ran upstairs, unlocking your phone.
