Butterflies

Hours spent standing by the window.
Wearing this dress makes me feel like a widow.
I wore it the other day.
So many things to say.
My favorite dress, I wore it.
But you never came to see it.
I wore it for someone who never came.
The best outfit, what a shame!
I heard you'd wear a silver shirt.
I sat there crying in the dirt.
You never came by.
I waited, I sigh.
To hold back tears, I try.
Be it summer, be it rain.
Be it winter, be it pain.
For your love I remain insane.
I hear the birds, their lucid sound.
I promise I'll always be around.
Even if you loose your count.
Even if your lies pile up to a mount.
You said their pretty, my eyes.
Something felt off about the butterflies.
I love your lies, they sound like lullabies.
And destiny loves silent goodbyes.
