Chapter 15

The girls finally made it back to London after spending an amazing week together.  Caitlin and Bailey pretty much spent the whole flight sleeping where Katie was busy racking her brain.  She had a ring at home that she wanted to give Caitlin, but after Caitlin explained why she had been so awkward a few times over the past couple of months. It made sense she had her engagement planned for a while. And it was perfect in every way possible, Katie was so happy that it was how it happened. But now she couldn't think of anything to match how perfect Caitlin's was. And because of that she started to get a little worked up. 

She had been so distracted that she didn't notice Caitlin had woke up. 

"What are you over there thinking about fiance? she asked kissing her knuckles.

"Oh nothing, go back to sleep. You're so cute when you sleep."

"Aren't I cute all the time?" She said with a little pout"

"Yes you are cute all the time even when you pout."

Caitlin knew something was on her mind, but didn't want to push it. Instead she just readjusted in her seat and leaned against Katie's shoulder . After a few minutes she felt Katie take a deep breath before she heard her start talking.

"How did you come up with the idea to propose to me in that way?"

"Well I wanted to show you my hometown before I did it. Just so you could get to know me a little more. Originally, I was going to wait until the last day, but I was way too nervous for that. That beach was always someplace that I was the happiest, some place I felt like I could be 100% me.  I wanted to share that with you and another happy, well scratch that, the happiest moment of my life so far with you there."

"It was perfect you know? I don't think you could have managed to do any better."

"Thanks babe," feeling satisfied Katie got the answer she was looking for, Caitlin drifted off to sleep again. 

Caitlin's words played through Katie's head the rest of the plane ride 'some place I was the happiest, where I can be 100% me'   

It had been a few days since they had returned home. And Katie couldn't think about where she was the absolute happiest. She didn't want to do the restaurant like was her original idea anymore. She thought maybe on the soccer field. She could propose out in the middle of the field after a game. But Caitlin would hate that, she didn't love make a big spectacle out of things like that. She could just spur a trip to Ireland on her. They just were there a few months ago and that would be so obvious.  The two of them were going to Paris together for a weekend soon, the city of love, that could work? But it's not special to her. Before Katie could think any longer Caitlin walked into the room.

"Hey love I am going to bed, want to come?"

"You go on ahead, I'll be there in a bit"

"Are you sure? Remember I'm going to Manchester tomorrow night to stay with Alanna."

Katie knew what she was implying but in all honesty she just didn't have the right mindset to have sex right now. 

"Yeah I'll be up in a bit I promise babygirl."

"Alright"

Now Katie was being the weird one. SHIT! I need to get my head straight. Why is this so hard? We are already engaged. Just come up with a plan already!

By the time she got out of her own head she realized Caitlin was already asleep by now and she's messing up even more by not spending the night with her girl before she goes away for the night. She realized she just wants to spend all the time in the world with Caitlin in their home. She hated when one was gone. It was hard to sleep in their bed without one another. Home. HOME! That's where I am the happiest with her! Here just the two of us. 

After the sense of relief from finally figuring out where she wanted to propose she decided to wait until the next day to put the plan in motion. Her girl was sleeping alone and Katie knew she needed to go snuggle into her. In their bed. In their home.
