A COUPLE DAYS LATER, some of the houses had been fixed, but there was still a lot of work that needed to be done.
inside laci's house, her father sat on the couch with a sigh. not a moment later the doorbell rang. timothy groaned as he stood up, walking to open the door. on the other side stood a familiar boy. he had brunette hair and enticing blue eyes.
"matthew?" timothy questioned. "you look just like your father when i went to school with him."
mat smiled, "hi, mr. b."
"what can i do for you?"
matt ran a hand through his hair, "uh, is laci home?"
he gave him an interrogatory look, "for?"
"she's uh- my tutor, mr. b."
after thinking for a moment, he nodded, trying not to get on his daughter's nerves as much as possible. "i don't believe she's gone out..." he trailed off, motioning for matt to follow him through the house.
they entered the kitchen where becky sat eating lucky charms.
"rebecca," timothy greeted.
becky nodded, "hey, tim."
"you seen laci anywhere?" becky looked up from her bowl, noticing the boy next to him. "oh, this is matt. matt, this is becky. she's a foreign exchange student."
"huh," becky looked matt up and down, the boy smiling in return. "yeah, laci's outside. she said something about saving the mice?"
