chapter thirty one

"Cancer..? No..No..NO..NO!" I yell.

"I'm sorry." Dakota cries.

"When did you find this out..? Why didn't you tell me?!" I scream.

"I didn't know how!" She says.

"And it's not certain yet! It may be a mild cancer but it's not 100%!" She adds on.

"And I can't believe you're yelling at me, you're being ridiculous. I wanted to save your fucking feelings!" She yells.

"Dakota!" Caitlin corrects.

"Save my feelings?! That's priceless! I can't believe my girlfriend didn't tell me she had cancer and I'm being ridiculous?! Wow!" I yell.

"I want you to leave." She says.

"But-"

"GET OUT!" She yells.

"ALRIGHT WHATEVER YOU SAY!" I yell and storm out.

I fall to the ground and start to cry. Just cry and cry. Caitlin walks out of the door.

"Please don't hate me please please I'm so so so-"

"Hayes! It's okay I don't hate you. I came to apologize for Dakota. I don't know what's gotten into her." She says and rubs my back.

"I can't believe I freaked out on her..I'm so sorry." I say.

"It's fine honey it really is. I know you're just upset." Caitlin says.

"Are you sure you don't hate me?" I ask.

"110%." She smiles. I hug her.

"I'm sorry for everything you're going through." I say.

"Thanks Hayes that means a lot to me." she smiles and hugs me.

"Do you wanna come in and just chill, your mom called earlier and said she was out with sky so she'll be back later." She says.

"Uh sure. I don't know how Dakota is going to like that." I say.

"Oh don't worry about her." she laughs and we walk inside.

I walk in and Dakota just turns away. She's so super cute when she's mad I'll have to be honest with you.

"Mom." She says.

Caitlin rolls her eyes and laughs behind her back. "Yes dear!" She says sarcastically. I laugh.

"Can you please go upstairs so me and Hayes can talk?" She asks.

"Sure." She says and goes upstairs.

When she's upstairs Dakota turns to me and looks at me with sad eyes.

"Hayes I'm sorry. I don't even think it's anything serious they may just have to have a surgery to remove something that can cause it. We're going to call tomorrow and see what's going on. I'm sorry again." She says starting to tear.

"Babe don't cry!" I say and laugh a little and hug her.

"It's okay I'm not mad at you! And also im sorry I snapped at you I didn't mean it!" I say and kiss her cheeks.

"It's okay." She smiles wiping her eyes.

"I just want to recover that's all. I hate being hurt." She says.

"I know baby I know." I say to her.

"Let me spend the night with you alright? I'll help you out?" I say.

"How did I ever get so lucky?" She asks.

"I always think the same thing." I smile and she laughs and her face gets red.

"Oh my gosh you still blush that is the cutest thing ever." I say.

"Stop!" She says and hides her face.

"Never babe!" I say and she makes a mad face.

"So so so cute." I laugh and she does too.

*********later that night**********

Her mom just helped her out in the shower and now we're eating.

"Dakota remember when dad would make those music videos with you." Caitlin said and Dakota cracks up.

"Yeah those were great." She says.

"I would love to watch them one time. You know, if you still have them." I say and they get really excited.

"Yes we do!" Caitlin says and pops up and goes to the dvd drawer.

She puts in a video of her and her dad singing "can't keep my eyes off of you" by the four seasons.

It was so adorable.

"That's my favorite song." She smiles.

"Love it." I smile at her.

"Guys lets go get ice cream." Caitlin says and we all get in the car and we get ice cream.

"Thank you cait." I say.

"Thanks mom!" Dakota says.

"You're welcome babies." She says. We get ice cream and bring it to my mom and Sky and Nash since he's home right now.

"DAKOTA!" Nash screams.

"NASH!" She screams and they laugh.

"I LOVE YOU!" He says.

"I LOVE YOU MORE!" She says back.

"Fine I guess if you're cheating on me with Nash.." I say.

"Sorry Hayes we've been dating for a while now.." He says and grabs her hand.

"Sky you're my girlfriend right?" I ask her. And she looks at me crazy.

"It's okay Caitlin's my girlfriend right cait?" I goes up to her and she gives me a big ol kiss on the cheek.

"Touché." She says to me and I give her a wink and an evil laugh.

***********later at late night**********
Dakota's POV

"Dakota are you ready?" My mom asks.

"Yeah mom remember Hayes said he's gonna stay with me?" I ask.

"Yes tell him were going."

"Okay."

After Hayes gets his stuff together we go to my house and get situated into bed.

"Good night my princess I love you so so so so much sleep well."

"Good night my love bug I love you so so much more."

We give each other a kiss and lay down.
