FILE 000: OVERVIEW

More than one decade ago—September 20, 2012—Dr. Samuel Thompson was doing a solo expedition of the End. Thompson was the tenth person to explore this 'new' dimension and his mission was to set up a base on the island the portal had transported the researchers to. He succeeded in his mission but a critical failure in the base's technology left him trapped for one week.

Air filtration failed during this time and he was exposed to the End air, which had not been confirmed to be safe at that time. In that one week, Thompson's physical features noticeably darkened. One medic reported that, "It looked like he had been covered in a light dusting of soot." Thompson's blood oxygen levels were concerningly low when he came back but concerningly high just two hours later. Tests of End air have confirmed the atmosphere is 10% of the Earth's atmosphere. Having extra life support saved Thompson.

Thompson was put through many tests and nothing showed itself. He was given medication to lower his blood oxygen level and sent away. Nothing has happened to him since.

Three weeks later, black spots started to form on the clothing Thompson had been wearing during the time he had been trapped in the End. Tests done on it showed that it absorbed all the light shone on it. Over the next week, those spots grew until they covered the entirety of the clothing. Tests done on both the End's void and the clothing and it shows that the clothing had been infected by the void. The clothes were put in a vacuum-sealed room.

On November 16, 2012, Dr. Fernanda Gibson managed to capture two of the native organisms of the End. She captured a three-inch wide, purple, mite-like bug and named it an 'Endermite'. The other organism is a seven-foot humanoid with tall legs and long arms whose entire body is black except for bright purple eyes. Gibson has called this organism an 'Enderman'. The Enderman and the Endermite attack each other when put in the same room and Enderman is calm until made eye contact with.

Tests done on these organisms yield the same results as the tests done on the void and Dr. Thompson's infected clothing. The current hypothesis is that both the Enderman and Endermite were something else but then infected by the void to the point of being unrecognizable. Both organisms died in captivity due to the scientists not knowing what they eat.

On November 30, 2012, Dr. Eliah Anderson requested to take a small sample of Dr. Thompson's void-infected clothing. This request was granted and the sleeve of the shirt was taken away. Anderson did many experiments on the effects of the clothing on various organisms. Conclusions were the same as what happened to Dr. Thompson.

When Anderson brought the sample back to the End and close to the edge of the island, the sample started to act in a strange manner. It started to fold into itself then expand. Within ten minutes, the sample was not clothing anymore but rather a small amount of void. Anderson found a vacuum-tube and sealed the void specimen inside. The specimen was put into a sealed glass room and kept under observation.

Left alone, the specimen simply shifts around and makes a low sound similar to whistling. When anything is added to the room, the specimen expands. It has been called 'VoidB'. VoidB has been untampered with since.
