FILE 044: LOG 37

DAY LOG:

The extra lights were removed from outside VoidB's room, which seemed to distress Subject XV. He was assured everything would be okay and seemed to calm down. The subject still stays a fair distance away from VoidB and eats his meals quickly before the substance disintegrates them. He continued to lament the loss of his bed. When not eating or complaining, Subject XV listens to the audio and attempts to look around the hall to the other subjects. From where he sits, he can easily see Subject Z-P (who is across the hall) and Subject Z-C (who is at the end of the hall).

By now, VoidB takes up roughly 1/3 of its original space (roughly 1/6 of its current space). The 'whistling' sounds have gotten marginally louder but Subject XV has not complained about it yet.

NIGHT LOG:

Subject XV did not try to go to sleep as light-out grew closer. When the lights switched off, the subject was in the far corner to VoidB and pacing a small two-foot space. Subject XV-2 stumbled but recovered and looked around. It noticed VoidB and walked toward it until one yard separated them. The subject seemed to talk to the substance before sitting down near it and looking out the window.

Scientists are equipped with night-vision goggles during lights-out but Subject XV-2 still seemed to notice the passing people. The vision from the cameras was blurry but it looked like its eyes followed the passing scientists.

One hour after lights-out, a genetically altered chorus fruit was dispensed to the subject (See Dr. Fernanda Gibson's studies for details). It took the fruit and seemed happy to see it, eating it immediately. As planned, Subject XV-2 was not teleported because of the alterations. This saddened the subject, it complained of 'the taste being off'. Subject XV-2 was not given access to the fruit prior to today and Subject XV should not have been able to obtain it.

For the rest of the night, Subject XV-2 stayed near VoidB and talked to it.

DAY LOG:

When Subject XV woke up near VoidB at 0921, he appeared distressed and moved far away from it. Half of his food was disintegrated and he quickly ate the rest. The subject continued to do his usual activities.

At 1352, Subject Joe H (see attached subject file for more information) 'visited' Subject XV. Subject Joe H was not allowed inside the room but sat outside with a whiteboard. See File 052 for conversation transcript. Subject XV enjoyed this interaction and asked if he were allowed to do this again. The response of 'if you're not contagious' was given. At this time, I have asked the Director for permission to conduct a secondary experiment on Subject XV to see if he is contagious (see File 053).

NIGHT LOG:

Subject XV-2 performed the same as yesterday. It was given two chorus fruits. One was eaten and the other was tossed to VoidB, which consumed the fruit.
