New beginnings

Barrymore Highschool

On Monday after the ice cream date with Becky, it was time for the new school year to begin, Grade 11.

I woke up at 6 am to prepare for school or maybe just because I was excited to go to school with Becky.

I brushed my teeth, washed my face, and then bathed and wore my blue and white school uniform consisting of a blue skirt, white shirt, and a blue blazer with white stripes on the collar.

Around 7 am I was done with my morning routine and went downstairs to have my cereal. I then got a text from Becky saying that we were leaving at 7:30 which meant I still had plenty of time.

After eating I went to rummage through Mom's bag for money, she was asleep so she didn't hear me. Once I found it I left my room got my socks and school shoes, and went to the sitting room.

I sat down and wore the rest of my school uniform except the tie because in my last school, we used cross ties and I didn't know how to tie a regular tie.

At exactly 7:30, I heard a knock on our door. I rushed upstairs to get my school bag and back downstairs. 

I looked at myself in the mirror before going to the door.

Opening the door, I was met with Becky in the same school uniform as mine smiling at me while eating a lollipop. I smiled back and closed the door

"Good morning Frenky" God I forgot that's my new name 

  I blushed and walked past her to hide my face

"Morning Becbec" I replied and she followed me

She was strangely quiet so I looked behind me and found her smiling with her head down 

"Becbec" I called and the colour on her cheeks increased its redness

Ahh so she's shy

I hugged her shoulders making her raise her head. I smiled when I saw her eyes brighten and she did the same

"So cute Becbec" I teased, she hugged my waist and hid her face on my chest  

"Come on we are going to be late" I looked ahead and she removed her head from my chest and looked forward too.

We started walking but I didn't break the hug so we walked in such a way that my left hand was on her shoulder while her right hand was on my waist.

We walked in silence for a few minutes till I broke the silence

"Isn't it too early for you to be eating lollipops in the morning?" I asked seeing her open another lollipop and put it in her mouth

"Nope, I couldn't have milk tea in the morning so I resorted to sweets smart right"

"Ah no you can get cavities"

"I haven't and I won't stop worrying Mom" she laughed

I stopped and looked at her seriously

"If you get sick you will come crying to us right" I reprimanded

"Am sorry I promise to reduce to one sweet per hour if I don't have milk tea" she said in a baby voice and puppy eyes that made me weak.

"OK better" Then we started walking

"Why are you not wearing your tie," she asked still walking

"I don't know how to tie it we used cross ties in my last school"

"Aw ok let me help you" She stopped and went in front of me

She removed the lollipop in her mouth and pointed it to my mouth
