"The rogues!" screamed the chief.

Our little encounter at the Jeonbuk hotel was neither successful nor useful. Not only did we let both Night Sky and Black Bird slip out of our hands, but also burned down all the evidence in the hotel. The chief refrained from speaking, but the anger he was trying to contain was clearly visible from his flaring eyes and nostrils, not to mention his harsh voice. "I'm with a bunch of nincompoops!" he finally said.

I quietly stepped out of the cabin. Do Hyun signalled to me to leave as soon as the chief turned his back on us (Do Hyun, Seo Joon and I were present there), and I for the first time gladly obeyed.

I turned around to look at the cabin one last time before leaving the station. Do Hyun and Seo Joon hung their heads as the chief yelled at them. I bit my lip. I did feel sorry for them.

Two months have passed since our almost successful attempt to catch Night Sky and Black Bird in Jeonbuk. We have had zero luck since then. The casualty in Jeonbuk caught the attention of the press, making the mafia headlines for an entire month. We lost discretion as "police on the lookout for mafia" became visible on every media outlet. Increasing pressure from higher officials was no relief either. The matter finally moved into the hands of a special team, and Do Hyun and Seo Joon became part of it. Probably because they had the closest contact with the targets.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee were kind enough to postpone our wedding, although I would be surprised if they didn't, considering the circumstances I and Do Hyun were in. I have kept myself out of the chase for the time being. It's not because I couldn't be of any help. Someone has to look after Do Hyun's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lee are aged, and Mr. Lee got into a car accident last year which resulted in his legs being damaged. He is now confined to a wheelchair. Mrs. Lee has constant back pain and cannot look after Mr. Lee all on her own.

I walked back from the department store tired from working all day. So many customers at the gift shop, and then I also had to go grocery shopping. My hands complained about the heavy weight of the bags I held. They weren't actually that heavy, my energy levels were low.

Work at the gift shop kept reminding me of Chelsea and A-Yeong. So much happened in such little time. Everything still felt unbelievable, like all of this was a very long nightmare I had to wake up from.

A scream fell on my ears as I dragged myself home. It made me jump and drop my bags. I looked in the direction of the scream just in time to see a girl being injected with something and fainting in the hands of two men. From where I stood, I could make out a car parked in the shadows of an alley and the men heading in its direction. I quickly ran towards them, "Hey! Stop right there!"
