August 1986, Magical Britain, Delphine

Rain fell in a steady drizzle, splashing on the cobblestone street, soaking into the ground, and making the street muddy, clinging to the last hope of summer heat. Lamp lights flickered, trying to illuminate the darkened alleyways and backroads of the dead-end road. There was no one about as the rain splashed down on the uneven rooftops, falling in small streams to meet the puddles on the road.

One lamp was fighting desperately to illuminate the road before it was snuffed out by the rain. A soft 'pop' echoed off the old brick homes, bouncing back at the two occupants who had arrived. Hooded and cloaked against the rain, the two figures stood just outside the edge of the lamplight. A hand rose and waved through the air and the rain stopped falling around them. It was as though the weather listened to the will of the spellcaster. The air in front of them shimmered and rippled before revealing a two-story house, leaning heavily to one side, and seeming to be held up by nothing but magic.

"Are you sure about this Del?" A male voice spoke from beneath one of the hoods. His green eyes cast about the area for any danger. "I know how hard this is to go back here after everything."

"Yes. We should never have come to pass. I only hope I am not too late." A female voice replied as she seemed to glide forward to the edge of the wards. Pausing briefly, she took in the state of the home. "You know, I wish that I could have had that book I wanted for my birthday." Running a hand over the wards, she wasn't surprised to see them accept her admittance. Reaching back, she took the hand of her companion, and they crossed the wards together.

"I know. It still looks the same." He whispered sadly, his voice catching as he searched for the second-story window where they would be, should be? Memories were swimming to the surface. Shaking his head to clear the ones trying to drag him under.

"We never let anyone change it. Even after everything that happened. Come, Harry, let's go talk with our family." Her voice was strained and whimsical as they approached the front door.

Lights could be seen from the front windows as two shadows moved behind the glass panes. Reaching out a hand to the doorknob, it creaked open before she could even touch it. All sound ceased from inside, but both knew they were ready to defend the home from whoever was brave or stupid enough to try and attack this house.

"Identify yourself!" A raised male voice called from within.

The door fully opened, and the two figures pulled back their hoods to reveal their faces to the room's two occupants. Stepping into the light from the sconces on the wall, the door closed behind them. Wands pointed at the two intruders, who seemed unbothered by that fact.

"Hello, Uncle Severus. Aunt Narcissa." The woman spoke, the air tense and the shock registering on their faces. "Will you speak with us to change what will happen soon?" She kept her gaze focused on Severus, unable to look her aunt in the eyes.

"Who are you?" Severus was suspicious, that was a good thing. His wand turned in a familiar pattern that she recognized to be him trying to get a read on her mind.

"You won't be able to get inside my head, uncle. You taught me too well." She smiled sadly. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lady Delphine Aurora Black of the ancient and most noble House of Black." She raised her left hand, displaying the Head of House ring on her left ring finger. She felt him leave her mind for the moment.

"Impossible..." He glanced toward the stairs, his mind racing to put it all together.

Narcissa gasped softly, a hand covering her mouth in shock. Something had happened to Sirius and Orion if she wore the ring. The question was what exactly? It made no sense.
