Chapter - 8
▫️▫️▫️Just for once, Shehnaaz would've hoped that she was wrong...that there wasn't something going on with Sidharth, she had no idea about.
But of course she was right. How else could it be?
When she entered her part of Sidharth's room, she knew something was wrong right away. The monitor, tracking His heart rate, was beeping loudly.
Just one look at it..told her Sidharth's heart rate was way too irregular, spiking before dropping to inhumanly low levels. And then she saw Sidharth. The man was lying on his back, his hands buried in the front of his t-shirt, gasping for air. Just one look at him and Shehnaaz could tell he was in a lot of pain. Too much pain.
This had never happened before. By the time sidharth came back to himself, his heart rate had always steadied itself again. Then sidharth turned his head in her direction, relief flashing over his features...and Shehnaaz understood. The reason sidharth had started acting so weirdly the day before...
His question, The vulnerability! Sidharth was about to die.
Not one of his many temporary deaths....THIS WAS IT!
His LAST LIFE. If it weren't , he probably would have switched onto a new one already. And Shehnaaz panicked. She couldn't let Sidharth die. This wasn't the way this should end.... She didn't care what happened as long as He lived. She has to get the doctor.
Before her brain could properly process it, she was already outside in the hallway... yelling at the security guard that always stood in front of the door to unlock Sidharth's room.
Shehnaaz has to get to him. She had to keep Sidharth awake until actual help comes. A doctor... Or anything.Probably confused by Shehnaaz's panic, the guy followed her back inside.. undoing the electric lock that sealed the door shut. Shehnaaz's hands were twitching.
She can't let this happen. Sidharth can't die just like that....Not after all their conversations... not after they had finally gotten this close!!She couldn't let that happen.
She could still hear Sidharth gasping as he writhed around in pain on the other side of the glass.
"Now call the doctor!" Still clearly a little confused by the suddenness of the situation the security guard nodded, but Shehnaaz didn't even notice that anymore.
She was already opening the door to Sidharth's cell, falling onto her knees next to Him, pulling the man onto her lap. With horror, Shehnaaz realized His eyes were closed. They couldn't be closed.... sidharth is strong. He have to keep himself together.
Without much thought about whether this was the right thing to do or Not, Shehnaaz started shaking Him up...
"Wake up! You have to stay awake!"Finally, Sidharth seemed to startle back into consciousness, his eyes were fluttering open... and then he just stared at Shehnaaz.
Like, he couldn't believe they were this close. Shehnaaz then realized it too... this was the first time their bodies were actually touching. She felt Sidharth's weight on her...could feel the fabric of his clothes against her fingers where she was gripping it painfully tight...could feel the weak lifting of Sidharth's chest.
