(First Person POV)

Hiding around the corner of a building, I see in front of me the suspected individuals we had been sent to find who had been terrorising a nearby village. Some of the village folk had given us descriptions of the asshats, leading us to where we were right now.

Through the comms, Rocket and Nebula were giving me an upstairs view of the layout and structures for me to sneak around on. "Look up to your right. D'you see that edging platforming?" Looking to my right and seeing said platforming, I hum quietly a positive response.

"Try and hop on top of it, then go to your left. You'll have a higher vantage point with better viewing of 'em." Staying low to the ground, I slowly walk my way to the platforming before making a leap up for it. The noise that follows causes the muffled conversation down below to halt, as does my movements.

'Please don't see me, please don't see me..' Hoping the cover of the darkened area will help cover me dangling off the side, I keep my movements still, and my breathing paused for a moment. After a while, the conversation from before had resumed, allowing me to get on top of the platform and catch my breath.

I look to my left and see a pillar just overlooking above where our targets are, so I quickly move my way along the wall towards it. Having the not too bright idea of going to climb on top of the pillar for a slightly better vantage point, I do exactly that with ease. Leaning against the wall and balancing on the balls of my feet on some broken wall underneath me, I push myself up and grab onto the top of the pillar.

It shifts in its place, shifting from side to side. "Oh fuck." I whispered aloud to literally no one in particular, but I end up getting a response through the comms. "(Y/n), what the hell are you doing!?" I wince at the screaming voice in my ear. Perching myself on top of the pillar and gathering balance, I look up above to see a very confused and concerned Nebula looking at me with wide eyes.

"Well, if you want a better view of these morons, you gotta do what you gotta do to get that view. Besides, it's not like this is the most idiotic thing I've done." I smile up at her, but I only get a glare back. "Get down from there, now. Or so help me -" She gets cut off by Rocket next to her, butting into our conversation.

"Hate to break up the chit-chat, but we're one moron down. Went wandering off, it seems." The raccoon looks at me with seriousness. "(Y/n), keep an eye out for behind ya. Please." Looking up to the two of them now, concern now present on both of them.

Sighing, I pull out my areo-rig from my satchel and place it on my chest, looking back up at them with a confident smile. Raising my hand to my ear, "Don't sweat it. I've got my areo-rig on, my blasters near my hands, a plan in mind, and hopefully, two very unworried people who are watching out for me."

Rocket nods his head and moves back to his spot to keep an eye out, but Nebula still looks at me with concern. Glancing to her side, she changes the comms to one-on-one conversing mode. "(Y/n)." Obvious worry within her voice. "Nebula." I mockingly respond.

She sighs, "The only reason you would need that on is if you fall. So get down from there and onto solid ground. Please." Chuckling and shaking my head, I go to say something extremely obnoxious and sarcastic, but it never comes out. To my left, I hear the obvious sound of faint footsteps, followed by a cracking of wood underneath them.

"You know what, Nebula? I'll take you up on that offer. Can you hold off talking for a minute? Thanks." Just as she begins to speak, I turn off the comms and place it in my satchel so it doesn't fall out or get damaged. Shifting to my side, I dangle off the side of the pillar. Gripping the top of it, I slide myself down the pillar and onto the shaking ground below me.
