Twenty one years into life
And just now it feels worth living.

I'm no longer trapped in that place
Hiding who I am
Letting it smother my spirit
Every day feeling like an eternity
Being nine hours away is my saving grace

Now, I may just be happy
Enjoying the rush of wind on my face
The stinging of the droplets tapping on my skin
The pale moonlight making me look ghastly
The green and red lights illuminating the night
Pale knuckles gripping the leather wheel

I am almost free

Free to love
Free to care
Free to express
Free to advocate
Free to debate
Free to graduate
Free to travel

And lastly,
Free
To never go back
