They have been doing research on adoption agencies.
The wanted to make sure the kid they adopted wasn't stolen.
They weren't planning on adopting a white child because racism is a thing and they don't want to deal with a Karen saying "That's not your child" to them or the "Why didn't you adopt a Asian child."
They plan on adopting other a Asian child or a Black child or maybe one who's mixed.
They don't care if their kid is from the same background as them, so if they adopted a kid who was Indian it wouldn't matter to them they would just do research on the culture and try to make sure that the kid knows about their culture.
They want their child to also be loved and feel welcome in the family.
