Sukie's POV

1st hour 23 hours left

We had been walking for ages... for miles, and still, we did not reach our destination. I keep asking dad where we are going but he's been very silent since our departure. I feel like I'm living a nighmare. A nightmare that will never ceese. The sun is setting slowly. Maybe one more hour until it's down completely.

Dad finally uters someting under his breath that sounded like " we'll soon be there". I'm petrified. What is to become of us? Why do we just keep going further and further into the forest? I don't dare say theese thoughts outloud. I don't want to worry dad.

Suddenly, he just stops abruptly. So fast, that I nearly go crashing into his back. My legs are sore and bruised because of the perilous journey. I just want to rest my feet.

Then, dad says that we have arrived. I look at him, rage printed loudly on my face, upset that he made us walk all this way just to stop at a random spot. I felt like I could scream at the top of my lungs but  I don't because I don't want anyone to hear me and find us.

Upon seeing my face, dad bursts out into a hearty laugh. I asked why he ridiculed me. He told me that ther was a bunker underneath the ground and that he would need my help to pull the door up since he is old now.

Surpised, I help my father and whenI see the beautiful bunker, my jaw dropped. The amount of questions I asked were enough to drive my dad insane.

He told me that he and mom built this bunker togethe when they were in there 20s and lived there for a while. When mom died in childbirth with me, he abandonned and bought a real house so I could the most normal life. He said he didn't sell it however just incase something bad happened and we would need somewhere to be safe.

I asked him why we didn't move here when he went bankrupt and he told me that this bunker was for a very dangerous special occasion like we are in now.

Dad showed be around the bunker and I was surprised in his taste back then. I laughed at all the funny photos he and mom took. I was having so much fun I nearly forgot about the troubles of the world and why we even moved here in the first place.

Dad showed me to a room that I could have and I started to get settled down. I started to explore some more. Finding crochet material, a sewing machine and fabric to go with it and a piano. Turns out my mom was a very artsy person. At least I won't get bored around here.

After unpacking my stuff, I went to see dad. I asked him about all my worries.

For our food, he told me that he would tech me how to shoot a bow and arrow so we could hunt animals. Ironic, because we're the ones being hunted. Now we know how they feel. He told me that he would also tell wich fruits and herbs to pick.

As for water, her told me that every once in a while, we would have to head down to the river and collect some water there. He told me if it ever looked too dirty, we could boil it over a fire to purify it and set it aside to cool.

When I asked him of how I was to protect myself, his expression darkened a bit. He told me I woudn't ike this part and got up from where he was sitting. Then, he beckoned for me to follow him. In a room at the far end of the bunker there was 4 whole shelves filled with weapons. Knives, guns, katanas and etc.

Upon seeing this I gasped. Dad looked ashamed to have all this but I stared in awe. I asked him if I would ever need to use them and he said that maybe one day I would. He told me that he would help me prepare for that day and tp not be scared.

We looked into each others eyes for a bit then we hugged each other and cried. Cried until we coud't cry anymore.

How sad that Sukie is going through this. As the timer counts down, will she survive...
