--- Yuuki Kagurazaka's POV ---

The foundational skill in magic involves acquiring a magical sense, enabling one to control magicules. This skill acts as an extra sense, providing a 360-degree awareness without blind spots by converting light and sound waves into understandable data. It allows sight and hearing even in darkness, making ambushes nearly impossible.

Additionally, this skill enables understanding spoken words by decoding intentional sound waves, even in unfamiliar languages. In simpler terms, I can communicate with animals and sense when someone is lying.

However, prolonged use can overwhelm the human brain, underscoring the importance of the user's processing capabilities. Though for a 'Majin' like me, I can handle 8t just fine.

Regarding magicules, it was two years ago when I had this conversation with my mom:

"Yuu-kun, we've uncovered information about the product you mentioned once the machine was operational. Although I anticipated uranium formation, the end product didn't align with our initial expectations."

Within two years, the facility where Mom worked officially explored the equation I developed. Ultimately, they succeeded in transforming energy back into mass, resulting in a crystallized form brimming with pure energies. However, due to the inability to control its shape and atomic construct, the crystal took an unpredictable form.

Mom shared a photo of both the machine and the crystal with me.

"I suppose the product is highly radioactive, isn't it?" I asked her. Exposure to radioactive materials can lead to various effects, depending on the duration, dose, and type of radiation.

Acute exposure may induce immediate symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and skin burns. Long-term exposure can heighten the risk of cancer and other health issues. It's imperative to limit exposure and adhere to safety measures in environments with radioactive materials.

"Yes, but it's a bit peculiar. We measured it as highly radioactive, even more so than the radioactive byproducts of a nuclear bomb..."

"But some of you weren't harmed even after touching it, right?" I inquired.

"Well... I wouldn't say none of us touched it by accident, but... some colleagues remained unscathed, while others experienced trouble breathing and various symptoms. It confuses us whether this product is genuinely radioactive or not."

As expected, I'm familiar with this material. It has the same atomic structure as a normal iron, displaying multiple colors as if made from epoxy resin – a highly radioactive one at that.

This... Is a "Magisteel"

"Magisteel?" My mom was puzzled at my words.

"Have you attempted to cut it in half or scratch it? It possesses a self-repairing trait and is saturated with that peculiar radiation. Doesn't it just feels like magic?" I inquired.

"Magic...?"

"Yes, that's the term I've settled on for that strange radiation."

It may induce symptoms, but this isn't a superhero movie where characters gain powers from nuclear waste. It's more like molecules in the air behaving like manipulable radiation.

"Magicules, that's what I'm going to name it... Although, feel free to suggest a new name for it."

The term "Magicules" found its place in her research paper, and I couldn't quite believe they embraced it.

Today, as I settled in the living room, my eyes fixed on the TV screen, a flabbergasted expression painted across my face.

"Don't you feel it's like magic? Hence the name 'Magicules'; that's how it got named."

My mom was being interviewed for her research, and she was actually discussing that... I was at a loss.

"I see! But in the end, who came up with that, Joshi/ma'am?" the interviewer asked.

"It's none other than my son, of course!" my mom responded happily.

"Haha, to think children's naming sense will be used in this groundbreaking research!"

That's when I decided to shut it down. Fortunately, it was just a pre-recorded interview, sparing me the potential embarrassment of seeing my mom wave at the camera and mention my name during a live broadcast.

"Yuu-kun~ Are you ready?" My mom's voice echoed through the house, prompting me to rise. I retrieved my school blazer from the sofa and donned it with a sense of resignation.

I meticulously fastened my tie and made my way to the kitchen. "Mom, just checking, but can't I attend the same school?" The high school building next to my old middle school bore the same name and principal. It seemed logical, considering my old friends would be there, but...

Mom placed her hands on her hips. "But Yuu-kun, Mom has prepared everything for your enrollment, you know?"

While I didn't particularly mind switching schools, as I hadn't genuinely connected with my middle school friends, things took an unexpected turn when I discovered the nature of my new school.

"Besides, I'm sure you'll have more fun there." Mom handed me a leaflet.

Freedom Tech Academy—an academy? Seriously?

"The First Rank School for Most Population of Cool Guys and Cute Girls."

"Annual School Festival, Beauty Contest!"

...Are you serious right now?

With a resigned sigh, I heard the distinct *thud* of the car door closing behind me.

Mom's insistence left me no choice, and here I stood, escorted by a sleek black Porsche, parked grandly in front of the imposing academy.

"Young master~! Have a good day!!!" The underlings from the clan, who had escorted me, shouted from the car with their windows down as the engine roared to life once again.

My gaze shifted to the colossal gates of the academy. It wasn't your typical school for wealthy, snobbish nobles; instead, it catered to geniuses and prodigies.

From the imposing gate, a tall, impeccably dressed blonde man stepped forward—the Principal of this esteemed academy, Julian Schwarte. Despite appearing in his late 30s, he emanated authority, an unspoken decree lingering in the air. Surprisingly, when his gaze meets mine, the atmosphere transforms into a somewhat amiable one.

"Welcome to Freedom Tech, Kagurazaka-kun," he stated.

I stared at him, surprised that the principal himself was greeting me. It was interesting, and I picked up his thoughts through magic sensing: 'I must not anger or provoke him; if the reports are true, then I will have to be careful.'

Reports was it? That's concerning... For someone high up like yourself trying to find out my background.

"U-um let me show you around personally, Kagurazaka-kun."

Translation: 'he looks unsatisfied, This is not good...'

How curious....
