I spent three days in my penthouse, enjoying my time with my Duke and ignoring my husband and his family. Judging by the amount of messages I got from previously unknown numbers, it seemed that my husband gave my number to his parents. They were relentless as they tried to get me to come back. They tried all tricks possible, even guilt-tripping, but I was inconsolable. I didn't want to see none of them.

I would've stayed at my place for longer had it not been for my husband texting me that he was on his way to see me. He didn't know about the penthouse, so it meant he went to my apartment downtown, which served as my official residence. I wasn't surprised he found out about it. He must've done a background check on me the same way I'd done one on him.

"Are you seriously going back to him?" my Duke asked frustratedly as he lay on my bed while I got dressed.

"I'm just going to hear what he has to say, that's it. He's already at my apartment. What if he finds this place?" I sat beside him and gently stroked his cheek.

"How about I come with you and talk some sense into him, huh?" he smirked, clearly liking the idea of getting under my husband's skin. He seemed utterly displeased with the fact that I was married, even though it changed nothing about our relationship. He simply wasn't a fan of extramarital affairs. Thankfully, my husband and I weren't married out of love. It was just a contract. That was why my Duke wasn't bothered by me being unfaithful to my husband.

And neither was I.

I told my husband that he could have as many mistresses as he wanted, as long as he didn't flaunt them in front of me. It was supposed to be a sign to him that I was not going to stay celibate throughout our marriage. If he didn't get the hint, then that's on him.

"My Queen, come back to me soon," my Duke said against my lips as we kissed.

"I will," I smiled. "You don't even need to dress up."

"Then I shall be naked and ready for you when you come back,"

"That's what I like to hear. I'll be back soon," I kissed him one last time then left to see my husband. I texted him to meet me in a restaurant near my apartment building, so that's where I went.

When I reached the place, I saw it completely empty, which was surprising. It was one of my restaurants, so I knew how well the business had been. It didn't make sense that there were no people inside, so I instantly realized that my husband must've rented the whole place.

He was excessively wasteful with his money.

I immediately spotted him sitting by a table near the back of the dining room. He was staring right at me with a calm expression, quietly waiting for me. I beckoned at him to follow me then led him to one of the private rooms that were reserved for guests that wanted absolute privacy. All of the restaurants that were part of my franchise had a system where the guests in the private rooms ordered their food with tablets that were there so the staff wouldn't interrupt them.

That was why I knew I could talk freely to my husband. He didn't know the place was mine, though.

"Where were you? I almost called the cops to report you missing," he started with nagging, of course.

"Does it matter where I was?" I scoffed.

"Of course it matters, you're my wife! Do you know how worried I was?"

"Worried? There's no need for that. You have other things to worry about now, don't you? For example, your child that my sister is carrying?" I taunted coldly.

My words shut him up real quick. He had no retort to that. He knew I was right. There was no need for him to be concerned with me when he was about to be a father.
