As soon as the titan was defeated, Carmen regroup with Levi and told him something she'd been keeping quiet until the moment arose. Her promise to Kenny couldn't have been forgotten, but she knew if she told him earlier then he would have been distracted. So, she waited.

"Levi, someone asked me to pass on a message for you." She revealed, confusion clouded the man's features as he waited for Carmen to continue. "He said his name was Kenny. He's waiting for you near the chapel." Instantly, she knew that her statement meant something to him - Levi looked shocked, almost hurt. Hesitantly, Carmen tilted her head, wondering why he was reacting in such ways. "Do you know him?" She questioned.

The captain couldn't exactly blame her for not knowing the urgency of the situation. She'd been kidnapped when he explained his relationship to the man, and missed out on a lot of key details that he would have to eventually tell her. "I'll explain everything later." He answered quickly, as if dancing around her question.

"I can go with you-" She began to offer, however she was interrupted before she got the chance.

"No need." He cut in. "You promised you'd rest after we killed Reiss, so that's exactly what you're going to do."

"Im fine, just let me help you." Her words floated around him as Levi continued to ignore her.

"You should go back to the base and clean yourself up, Mikasa can help with your injuries." He ordered her, neglecting her wishes.

The assassin wanted to protest more, to yell out and confront him, but he was gone before she had the chance. She saw him talk to Erwin, the two met some sort of agreement before a few scouts followed Levi down the wall. Although she hated admitting her feelings, it slightly hurt when Levi dismissed her so swiftly - would it have killed him to at least give her some sort of explanation?

"Hey, where's Levi?" Jean asked her, having questions for the captain.

Regaining her composure, Carmen turned to the boy. "He's gone to meet someone." She briefly informed. "Can I be of any help?"

Jean nodded as Sasha and Connie stood by his side in anticipation. "We were wondering if we could head back to our base." He questioned, his tone filled with worry - Carmen couldn't understand why.

"Of course, I'll come with you." She answered, seeing the squad relax.

"Thank god, I'm so hungry, the only food I've eaten was some potatoes Armin stole from the market." Sasha exclaimed, her face contorting at the mere thought of food. "I could probably eat an entire horse!" She yelled.

"Sorry Jean, I don't think I'm strong enough to protect you this time." Connie snickered, as the sandy haired boy scowled.

"What did you just say baldie?" Jean shot back, only for Connie to deny ever insulting him.

The trio continued to bicker amongst themselves as they gathered the rest of the squad, each of them preparing to descend down the wall. The second in command was glad that despite all the hardships they endured, the teenagers managed to stay positive. She only wished she had the same mentality.

"Where do you think you're going?" A loud, deep voice halted the squads movements, some turned around in fear to meet the cold gaze of Erwin Smith. "I need each of you to give reports immediately, the garrison have given us a building to use for the day and I intend to make use of their generosity."

Glaring at him, Carmen tried her hardest not to roll her eyes. The squad that was once so happy had melted into unease, all because of him. He was so inconsiderate, uncaring, and demanding - she wouldn't stand for it. "With all due respect, I think we'll pass on your offer." The woman shut down, watching the Commander quirk a brow at her response.
