"Where were you?"

"I just needed to think."

"You were gone for three hours, Lou. At least you could have told me."

"I told you, I needed some space, I didn't want to talk to you."

"Lou? What's wrong...?"

"Nothing! Nothing's wrong! Why can't you accept that, Harry?"

"I'm worried about you, Lou! You haven't been yourself lately!"

"Don't call me Lou. My name's Louis."

"Fine. Louis. What's wrong? Tell me, Louis."

"It's better if you don't know."

"I thought we promised no secrets."

"Promises from the past doesn't matter now."

A cigarette fell to the ground. Tiny flames rose, only to be extinguished by the roaring wind.

The two men stood in silence, the sound of their heavy breathing the only thing that broke it. Green and blue eyes met.

The shorter man turned away, dragging his gaze away. With a short glance at the other man, he walked away, pushing his hands in his pockets. The sound of his footsteps rang across the empty street, slowly fading as he got farther and farther away.

The oher man stood alone, on a painfully empty street, as the sharp claws of the icy wind somehow reached his heart.
