Chapter 87: Standing Next To You

(POV Niki)

'Melia...Melia" I say shaking her

My voice starts to quiver and I feel my stomach turn as I see her body lying there like that

I get flashbacks to when I carried my little brother to the hospital that day

She's not moving and I quickly lift her up but once I put my hand under her head I see it's covered in blood

My hands are now coated in her blood and I remember sitting my outside the hospital room that day covered in his blood while they resuscitate my

I feel nauseous immediately but I manage to tie  a t shirt around her wound and I lift her up

I run out of the store and down the stairs as quickly as I can

'Please, help" I shout breathlessly..barely able to get the words out

'Oh my god what happened!" Carlos yelps as I place her down in the middle of the floor

'She hit her head" I say putting her down gently

'What the hell happened here" Quinn says running over with the rest gathering around

'A walker...she ran into one on the top floor"

Dan kneels next to her and turns her head to the side

'Okay good you patched it up well" he says nodding to me

I had wrapped a t shirt around it when I carried her down, I hand him another t shirt  I grabbed and realise my hands are sill trembling like crazy

'Take it easy bro.." Seth says patting me on the back but I don't move

'W-What's happening now? Is she gonna be okay?" I say so quick I'm not sure it made sense

'She's okay...she hit her head pretty bad, definitely a concussion but she'll be fine don't worry" he says

Carlos s already crying but he's always been over dramatic anyway so it doesn't bother me

'You don't look so good yourself" KJ says to me but I don't even look in his direction

I Do NOT like that guy and he may be right...as I look at my own hands that won't be still...but I'm not giving him that satisfaction

'Niki...maybe you should rest a bit man" Seth says leaning closer to me

'I'm fine..I just..I just" I start to say breathing heavier and heavier

I look at her again and I feel the tears welling up in my eyes, I stand up and run to the bathrooms which luckily are right beside where we were

I run inside and put both my hands on the sink and lean over it with my head down

What is this? What's wrong with me? I shout in my head but I can't keep my mid at ease no matter what I do

I can't breathe...I actually can't breathe...

My breathing starts to speed up and the more scared I feel the worse it gets

'Woah woah..there...Niki..what's wrong? Are you okay?" Ben says running over once he sees me

I curse myself at the fact that he had to see me in this state..he's probably laughing at me right now

'Okay..okay calm down alright" he says so unconvincingly making me even worse than before

'Just....just..just GET OUT" I say through breaths

'Look...bro you need to calm down first" he says edging closer

I try to turn away from him in embarrassment but he stops me grabbing me by the shoulders
