A reminder that I am NOT a professional! I am however an adamant book lover and have enjoyed reading and writing my entire life. These are my opinions and the things that I notice, enjoy, find need of touching up, etc.
Enjoy!
Ring Bing: A Ratner Story is a novel published by VodkaFridge. At the time of submission this novel has a total of 19 published chapters.
"I want our writing to be the best it can be in both entertainment and understanding. I want readers to be entertained and be able to read what we have written. I know that's a tall order."- VodkaFridge
Descriptive:
Ringo Starr the former drummer of the Beatles and current ms paint artist opens a Bingo place. He wanted to give his art more exposure after it wasn't being sold as well as he expected. Enter William Shatner the disgraced cis actor and Twitter troll. He caught wind of Ringo's beef with competitor Bingo places on Twitter and made it his retirement goal to help him. Will they fall in love? Come find out in this "messy masterpiece."
Chapters 1-10:
-A comedic relief, and possible harassment of film and music legends
-I couldn't take any of it very seriously. So, I was struggling a bit with being a critic. I feel like when the author (s) ? aren't being silly geese, they have potential for good storytelling. I couldn't bring myself to absorb much of what was going on, the chapters short and the comedic efforts missed by a shot. I don't particularly enjoy the "heart attack sex" and such written within the novel. Maybe I need to set more clear boundaries withing my accepting of fan written fictions. Who tweets their whole life?
-If, however the authors intentions are meant to be taken seriously, I don't believe that the style of writing is what is going to sell your profile. "Entertainment and understanding" became "kind of grossed out and confused."
Notes:
-If you love William Shatner or Ringo Starr, I think this novel would offend you more than entertain. Unless you're just the type to enjoy some uncomfortable banter between "lovers".
-However, if you do enjoy the "SNL" (Saturday Night Live), not take it very seriously, go "eww" during some sketch scenes, then this may just be your Ringo x William go to.
-Grammatically, sentence structure, dialogue etc in itself is pretty solid! Maybe some more detail, emotion etc in between the dialogue.
Conclusion:
I am severely uneducated in the lives of these two men. They may have a bussin' bingo love story in real life and I am just unaware of...but I would not personally continue with this story. I need depth, detail, and story building in my romance novels. As I stated above, if you are a fan of the men and the grotesque humor, I would say go for it! I am however not that woman.
Sorry to have given such a short review.
Thank you for trusting me with your work!! Best of luck in your future writings, I hope you find your groove/genre where your tucked away skills will flourish.
Keep on writing!
