Saiki bolted out of bed, his cheeks feeling stained and his pulse pounding in his chest, clutching the blankets firmly as he attempted to control his panicked breathing, only to realise moments later that it was all in his imagination and that he was dreaming.

But this was no ordinary nightmare; rather, it was a vision, a terrifying glimpse into the future, in which Saiki saw his friends bravely defend their home against a ferocious group of marauders, only to suffer terrible wounds at the hands of their merciless adversaries. Saiki could not shake off the odd sense that the vision may very well become a reality if he did not do something about it. He had always had strong intuition, but his visions could be faulty.

His heart tightened at the thought of his friends and town in peril, and he sat up in bed, certain that he could not just sit back and let it happen. His head was still spinning from the pictures he had just seen.

His friend Lemon, a lovely dragon with shimmering sandy scales, entered his room as he sat there, trembling with uncertainty. She detected his distress instantly and gave him a gentle prod with her nose.

Saiki tried to comfort his dragon companion, saying, "Don't worry, Lemon. It was just a nightmare. There is nothing to worry about."

He groaned and scraped under Lemon's horns, and she growled, as though confused by Saiki's comments, and pressed herself to him, giving him comfort and support.

"Yeah, we can go get some food now. What do you say?" he said, sighing and sagging his shoulders as he observed the Sand Wraith's tail toppling more objects and disturbing Saiki even more.

He reasoned that it would provide him with a little diversion from his attention towards Lemon. At times, he felt as though he was caring for a pet, and he was not prepared for the responsibility, but he could not just let her go—especially after everything she had done for him.

He gave Lemon a sour look and left the room, but Lemon stopped what she was doing and fluttered her wings to let Saiki know exactly what she wanted. "Okay, I am coming. You are so dramatic and demanding."

As they arrived at the beach, Lemon immediately took off towards the water, her large wings flapping in excitement. Saiki followed at a slower pace, admiring the crystal-clear water and the soft sand beneath his feet. He couldn't help but feel a bit conflicted about his dragon. On one hand, Lemon was a magnificent creature with incredible abilities. But on the other hand, Saiki couldn't shake off the feeling that bonding with Lemon was a waste of time. Saiki couldn't help but laugh as he watched Lemon frolic in the water. It was a sight to behold. Lemon's vibrant golden scales glistened in the sunlight, and her long tail swished back and forth as she splashed in the waves. Saiki sat down on the soft sand and watched as Lemon continued to play in the water. Despite their initial reservations, he couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and happiness watching Lemon have such a good time.

He could not allow that to derail him from his primary goal of returning everyone home; despite his friends' wishes to stay, he could not help but wish for anything else. That normal life, which he took for granted, made him start to ponder what was normal in this world. Was it fighting, plundering, or dragon training? Bingo. The folks of Berk were obsessed with dragon training and riding, but that was something Saiki had no interest in doing whatsoever. Being the odd man out was fine with him; he was determined to live his normal life within the realm of dragons and Vikings, which included staying far away from Kaidou and company whenever possible, finding joy in the small, quiet things in life, and not worrying about natural disasters—a goal he would achieve even without the help of a dragon.

But as Saiki watched Lemon, excitement oozing from every inch of her being, he couldn't help but feel unsure. He had never been good at bonding with people, let alone fantastic creatures like Lemon. He had always been stoic, cold, and serious, preferring the company of books and solitude. Saiki couldn't help but stare as he watched Lemon swim and play in the water, her tail causing small waves to crash against the shore. She was like a child, full of wonder and curiosity. He had always thought dragons were creatures of fire and land, but Lemon was having the time of her life splashing around in the water. As Lemon splashed in the water, Saiki found himself walking towards her, the water lapping at his feet.
