"I don't see any residual bleeding," Owen said, cleaning up the field for Amelia, "Can you get a good look?"

"Yeah," Amelia said, stepping forward, "Definite CSF leak. We'll need to remofe the entire vertebral body to decompress the spinal cord, right?" Owen and Ophelia nodded, "Problem is, I'll need to disect more if the aorta."

"Risking paralysis?" Jo asked, "Is there another option?"

"Put him in a brace." Amelia suggested.

"Then he wouldn't be be completely decompressed." Alex pointed out.

"So we risk paralysing him either way." Jo said.

"What are you going to do?" Owen asked Amelia.

"Do I have time to talk to his mom?" She asked.

melia finally came back, with news that the two mothers were fighting it out, but with permission for surgery.

"Dr. Shepherd, BP is going down." Jo said as Amelia worked.

"How's that bone graft coming?" Amelia asked.

"It's out. Sealing up with bone wax." Ophelia replied, working with Owen on the graft.

There was a few minutes if silence, where Alex and Jo began to discuss something.

"What?" Jo asked, not understanding what Alex said.

"The gun. Where is it in the house?" He repeated, louder. Everyone subconciously listened in to their conversation.

"It's in a safe place." Jo assured him. Ophelia felt bad for her. She clearly didn't want to talk about it in the OR.

"I didn't even know it was there. I want to know where it is." Alex continued, clearly not noticing how uncomfortable Jo was.

"It's in a box under the bed."

"It's under our bed?"

"That's where we'd need it."

"I don't want a gun in my house."

"It's my house too. It makes me feel safer."

"Does it?"

"Have you seen our neighbourhood?"

"Because you're nor safer. You're more likely to get hurt because there's a freaking gun around."

"Alex-" Jo tried to protest.

"I got shit once. You know that."

Everyone was silent. They always where when that was brought up. Owen cleared his throat. "BP's 60/40. Starting him on levo." He said.

"Once I decompress the spinal cord, it should get better. I just... let me work." Amelia said, trying to focus.

"Work faster." Alex said.

"Okay, Alex, you need to calm down. We're all stressed here, but Amelia needs to focus on her work and you are not helping." Ophelia said, standing beside Amelia incase she needed help. She had been quiet whilst Alex and Jo talked, but he was really starting to annoy her.

Alex practically glared at her.

"How you doing?" Alex asked a while later.

"Micro Penfield 4." Amelia said, holding out her hand, "Just a few more-"

One of the machines began to beep rapidly. "He's in V-tach, rate of 233." Ophelia said.

"Paddles!" Owen ordered.

"No, no paddles." Amelia protested, still working, "His spine is completely unstable and exposed right now."

"We have to!" Alex tried to reason.

"If you shock him, he will move, and he will be paralysed. You'll undo all my work."

"We'll try to take him down with meds. Uh, push amiodaronee, 125 milligrams." Ophelia said instead.

"Just give me a minute." Amelia protested.

"Add vaso on top of his pressors." Alex ordered.

"V-fib!" Jo called.

"Shepherd, we have to shock him." Alex told her, "Charge to 50!"

"No! If he moves, he won't walk."

"If he dies he won't walk either. Clear."

Everyine but Amelia moved away from the boy.

"Amelia, clear!" Alex yelled.

"Just give me- damn it!"

She finally stepped back, and Alex shocked Peter.

The monitor finally began to beep normally again.
