Me and dad were having our breakfast in silence.
Neither of us are morning people so we usually have our breakfast in silence.
But today the silence was different. It was as if dad wanted to say something but was hesitating which is odd because the great Arthur Doyle Carson doesn't hesitate.
"If you've got someone to say go ahead." I spoke breaking the silence.
"What? No no I don't have-"
"I can see it on your face dad. Come on. I'm your daughter not mother. Nanna might scold you if you've done something but I won't." I cut him off.
"I- ok. I understand if you'd be against the idea after everything that happened with your mother, but just know that she's not like that. She's a great woman. I met her during a business meeting a few years ago and we became friends. Then 2 years ago we started dating. She has kids too. And I really like her. I wanted you to meet her and her family and for them to meet you. If -" he started ranting.
"Ok." I said.
"Ok? Just ok? You're ok with this? Say something!" He said.
"It's alright dad. It's been 13 years. You didn't like Rebecca but you married her just for my sake. You never got the chance to actually love someone or recieve love from a partner. I'm perfectly alright with you dating someone and eventually getting married to her if you want. I'd love to meet her and her family." I calmly spoke.
After we exchanged a few more words, dad left to invite his girlfriend over for dinner tonight and I left for my office. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

All of us were having breakfast with light chattering when mom cleared her throat to gain our attention.
"I wanted to tell you guys something." She spoke calmly but anyone could sense the nervousness in her tone.
"I have a boyfriend! I know it will be hard after everything with your father but just know that he isn't like that. He has a daughter and the both of us want you guys to meet eachother. He's excited to meet you and I'm excited to meet his family." She spoke after receiving nods from everyone.
