Good Intentions

Nina Sofia Chambers:
It was surreal seeing Michael on TV like that for the first time since I'd met the man. It was crazy watching how people reacted to him. I often forgot when I was in his presence that he was this huge superstar. His date looked amazing and I wondered to myself if he got it in after the show.
A couple more weeks had gone by since the award show, I was now four months pregnant and there was no hiding it. I felt like I was getting wide everywhere. My hips, my thighs, my face... I made sure to use every stretch mark cream on the market two hundred times daily. Tomorrow was the big doctor's appointment. We would find out what the sexes of the children were. I laid out a pair of jean shorts and a large purple blouse for tomorrow. I looked down at my stomach. I couldn't believe four months had gone by already. I still had no luck house hunting and my lease would be up next month. I was starting to think seriously about getting a townhome or condo in Santa Barbara on a six month's lease so I would be close by temporarily. But I can't stress about it right now...
As soon as I laid down to go to sleep my phone vibrated. It was Michael calling.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Nina! I'm so excited! There's no way I'm going to be able to sleep tonight..." I smiled and just shook my head.
"Well I plan to..." I yawned.
He made a whiney noise and was quiet for a minute.
"My worst fear is that they will be identical twin mini Ninas."
I scoffed.
"Seriously though... I'll have to quit show business so I can guard my daughters full time. I wouldn't even trust staff with them."
I laughed. "Shut up..."
"Seriously though!" his voice hit a high note. I laughed again.
"I can't wait to see you, Nina... I've missed you." Oh no... Don't let it get to you, Sofia!
"Don't get all mushy with me, Michael, or I'll have to hang up." I said jokingly. Secretly, I missed him too, though. He hadn't been calling as much over the past few weeks. I wondered if it was because he had kept in touch with his awards show date. I saw a picture of them at a hotel on a tabloid not that long ago. It was something that had been on my mind... So I asked. "Don't you still talk to your publicity date?"
"Jhené? No... I flew straight home after the awards show."
"Oh." I decided to change the subject then. "So I've been thinking about getting a townhome or condo in Santa Barbara for the next 6 months."
"That's great! It will be so much more convenient having you closer. I can pop in and bug you all the time..." He snickered evilly.
"Oh joy..." I said sarcastically.
There was a long silence. Then Michael finally spoke.
"Nina, can I tell you something without you getting mad at me or making things weird between us?"
"It depends." I answered. He sighed.
"Now I'm too shy to say it..."
"Just say it, Michael."
"I really like you Nina, even more so than when I told you before..."

"I'm your surrogate not your fucking toy! You're not going to fuck around with me and play dad to my son just cause you're feeling lonely right now just to dispose of us later when your kid finally gets here!"
