She's afraid of using her powers because people have called her a monster and her parents were no help either she was never allowed to show off her amazing gift and during her coronation ceremony to become queen she got angry and her powers went wild seeing this people were scared and backed away from her so Elsa had no choice but to flee in the northern mountains and live there in her ice palace as long as it went she wouldn't be labeled as a monster.
