I rolled over in bed. I struggled opening my eyes, but I eventually did. I looked up at the ceiling and slightly yawned.
"Good morning, beautiful!" Harry said while appearing over me. I gasped. It scared me a bit. Harry chuckled while he noticed I was startled.
"Morning." I managed to say. My voice was quite raspy this morning. That didn't usually happen because I was an early bird.
"Sorry I frightened you." Harry smiled.
"It's alright. You're not that scary, Harry." I laughed at my own statement.
Harry joined the laughing, "Hey! I can be very scary!"
"Oh yeah." I sarcastically said sitting up.
Harry stared at me for a second. He put a fake scowl on,"Boo!" He shouted in my face.
It still wasn't scary, but I went along with it and pretended to be frightened. Harry had a grin of victory and put his fists up in the air. I laughed at his happiness.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"Um.." Harry paused and looked at his phone, "It's about 9."
"9?! I'm going to be late for work!" I shouted.
"When do you have to get in?" Harry asked sharing my anxiety.
"15 minutes." I said.
"Anna, the bakery is 20 minutes away, and you still have to go home and change. I don't mean to sound negative, but you're not going to make it." Harry said.
"I have to go, though! I'm going to get fired." I leaned my head against the bed board.
"Call in sick. Tell your boss that you're ill." Harry recommended.
I smiled at Harry's idea. I pick up my phone on the night stand. I dialed my boss. I told her that I was sick, but she didn't believe me.
"I'm really not well! I can't come in today." I argued.
"I highly doubt that, Anna. You sound fine! We need you today!"
"I'm sorry. I wish I could come, but I can't." I tried convincing.
"This is the third time you're doing this, Anna. If you don't come in today, I'm going to have to fire you." My boss threatened.
"Fine." I paused for a moment. "Do it. Actually, no, I quit!" I shouted. I hung up my phone angrily and slammed it on the night stand. I buried my head into my hands.
I felt a hand rub my back and pull me towards that direction. I leaned my head on Harry's shoulder. He was hugging me.
"What am I going to do without a job? Baking is the only thing I can do, and I lost my opportunity to do that. I won't be able to pay my bills. Sure, Jess has a job, but it's not enough."
"You'll figure it out. I know you will. If you need help, I'm always here for you. Well, you can always try to get your job back." Harry said.
"No, I can't. I'm sure you heard her on the phone. I rudely hung up, and she wouldn't give me my job back." I said in defeat.
"I'm sorry that you're manager's a bitch." Harry whispered.
My sadness and anger turned into laughing. I felt better after what Harry said. Thinking about it, she was a bitch. She sucked.
"You're right. Thanks for making me smile." I said in a hushed tone.
"That's what I'm here for." Harry said. I smiled and looked at him. I gently pecked his lips in appreciation. He smiled back at me, "So, last night.." Harry started.
