Chapter 4

"You done packing now, Reo?" Kei ask me as he take a sit across from me.

"Yeah, aalis na ako maya maya."

"Hmm.. ingat."

...

"Hi mom, sa wakas, I can finally breath freely. Finals wreck the heck out of me."

My Mom's hand runs in my head and smile fondly at me.

"Why, mom? May problema ba?"

She just chuckled and pat my head.

"Wala naman anak ko, it's just that... ang laki mo na. Miss na miss ka na rin ng papa mo. Pag nag pasko raw ay uuwi s'ya. Makakapunta ka kaya ngayong pasko? 'Di ba sabi mo, marami kayong gawain?"

"Hmm... You're right mom. But don't worry, I'll make time." I smiled reassuring at her and kiss her cheeks.

As I stare at her longer, she's already in her 50's but she's really beautiful. May pinag-manahan talaga ako. I laughed at my own thoughts.

"Mom, ang ganda mo pa rin. Kahit may katandaan ka na, hindi pa rin kumukupas ang ganda mo. Manang mana talaga ako sa'yo."

She laughed at me at ginulo ang buhok ko.

"Tama na nga yan, anak. Inuuto mo lang ako eh. Chocolate ba ang gusto? Nakapag-fermented na ako ng cocoa seeds. Papuntahin mo sila Reign ha, miss ko na kamo sila."

"Uhn, got that mom."

I'm in my room, my favorite spot is in the rooftop, yes. I have access in my rooftop because I have a ladder na naka-dugtong para doon. I like looking at the stars, specially when I'm feeling down. So weird because whenever I look at it, it makes me feel okay. Siguro isa sa mga yan ay soulmate ko. Just joking haha.

Bigla namang sumagi sa isip ko si Samuel. Wow, just wow. Wala pang alas diez para mag breakdown. Joke ulit. Nasan na kaya s'ya? Is he still hanging out with the girl named Jia? Hmm... I'm also curious about him. It started when Kei ask those and make me realized that maybe... maybe... I like him.

"Wow, I just admitted it myself. Gago talaga si Kei. Hmm... there's nothing wrong about liking him but what's wrong is that, he have a girl... wow, great. Just great."

I sigh and put my forearm on my forehead. Siguro hindi magandang magka-gusto sa straight. (or that's what I thought)

Kung titignan ko ng mabuti, si Sid na gusto ni Kei ay halatang matipuno at walang halong kabalikuan pero ito namang kaibigan ko'y balikong-baliko. Pa'no n'ya kaya 'yon nakakayanan? Nakita n'ya na kaya si Sid na nay kasamang babae? Or hindi pa kaya wala pa s'yang violent reaction? I sigh again.

"Maybe I'll just sleep it off. Pagod na rin ako."

Morning came and I'm still sleepy. But! It's so sunny outside yet the hotness is subtle. Since mahilig sa halaman si mom, didiligan ko nga.

Bumaba na ako sa kwarto ko papuntang living room. May naamoy agad akong mabangong sinangag na nanggagaling sa kusina. And there, I saw mom cooking our breakfast.

"Hi mom, good morning! Anong almusal?"

"Fried rice, sunny side-up, bacon at hot chocolate, your favorite." I smile at her statement.

"Okay mom, thanks. Diligan ko mga plants natin mom, miss ko na sila vivi." I'm talking about my childhood flower na pinalaki ko at inalagaan ni mom pag may pasok ako.

I open up the faucet and wait for the water to come out in the hose. After I saw the water coming out, I immediately turn the faucet to the plants.

"Ang lalaki na ng flowers ni vivi ko, also new buds is growing... she's just healthy as always." I smile to myself.

Ginala ko ang mata ko sa mini garden ni mama. May kataasan ang lugar kung saan kami nakatira kaya medyo kita ang city light sa'min. Kaya nga natambay ako sa rooftop, kasi doon ay kitang kita mo.

And there, I also see Samuel walking or more likely, nag jo-jogging s'ya mag-isa. His white compression shirt engulfed his body just right to see the muscles in them. So squish—, I need pure thoughts.

Pinunasan nya ang kanyang pawisang mukha gamit ang isang puting towel na nakasabit sa kanyang balikat. Just as his eyes went up, it meets mine that is already gazing at him. I saw his sweet smile appears in his beautiful face.

"Good morning, Reo!" He jogged towards me and come to the barricade na nagsisilbing boundary ng terrace at mini garden.

"Dito ka ba muna hanggang sa pagtapos ng break n'yo?" He ask me.

"Ah, oo. 2 weeks break kami, ikaw ba?"

"Hmm? Sa tattoo shop ba? Wala kaming pasok ng 3 days, pahinga raw sabi ni Sid."

"Eh sa university n'yo? Hindi pa kayo sembreak?" I curiously ask him with tilting my head on the side.

He chuckled. "Graduated na ako, Reo. I'm now focusing on my job as a tattoo artist."

"Tapos ka na mag-aral? Wow, I thought nag-aaral ka pa with how young you look." His gaze darted on me.

"Nu-uh. Graduated na ako, 3 year ago. Sa Scondios University din."

"Same university? Hmm, sabagay malaki yon kaya hindi kita masyadong nakikita." I nod to myself.

"Reo, anak. Kakain na!" I hear my mom shout at the door and she saw Samuel.

"Oh Samuel, sweetie. Aba'y pawisan ka, kumain ka na ba? Kain ka na muna rito." Pag-aaya ni mom kay Samuel and wait for his response.

"Uh... ang totoo po n'yan ay nasa bahay si Jia, nag luluto na po siguro s'ya ngayong oras na 'to. Kaya po baka hindi muna ako makasabay sa inyo." He smiled awkwardly at my mom and the frown on my face is visible.

Jia? Nasa bahay n'ya? At nag luluto ng umagahan? That's hella strange. Sila ba?

"Ah ganoon ba? Ay s'ya sige, ayos lang. Ingat ka pauwi anak ha, punta ka na lang dito kung gusto mo." She smile and wave at him before going back inside the house.

"So, I guess this is goodbye for now, Reo. Uuwi na ako ha, pumasok ka na bago ako umalis." He smiled sweetly at me before standing firm outside the gate. So, I do what he said and he wave before taking a jogged towards his home.

"Tara na anak, upo ka na."

"Thank you for the food."

...

"And that's what happen, I guess sila nga nung girl na Jia." I tell through the video call with the two other idiots.

"Hmm... hindi dapat tayo nag co-conclude agad. Malay mo, pinsan, o kaya naman ate n'ya. Hindi nga lang magka-mukha kasi malakas ang genes nung magulang. Hindi mo rin naman alam  features nung parents n'ya eh. Nag o-overthink ka masyado." Reign's comforting me, I know.

"Dunno, it's just a mere crush anyway. Nothing's more. No big deal."

"Hmmm, ganyan din ako dati kay Sid eh, nag simula sa crush pero nahulog din eventually. Sana nga relative lang ni Sam 'yon, pa'no kung hindi?" Kei looks like he's also overthinking.

"Just go with the flow. Hindi naman ako kawalan, This is just the beginning. Okay lang ako."

"Tapos and'yan ka pa, lagi mo s'yang makikita."

"Ano naman, makikita lang naman."

They both sigh.

"Reign, co'mere, I need help."

Kei and I got silent for a minute before Reign look at us.

"Bye muna for now, Sylja needs help." And there he left the VC.

"Punta ako d'yan next next day. Damayan kita." He laughed.

"Shut up, hindi kita sasamahan sa pagpapa-tattoo mo." I rolled my eyes on him.

"Hmm, kung kaya mong hindi sumama eh." He stick out his tounge, teasing me.

"D'yan ka na, 'wag ka sanang magustuhan ni Sid. Gago." And with that, I end the call.
