XVII: Grateful
I mean, the thought of having his parents stand in as my parents for my baptism in the church is making me really nervous! I'm feeling a bit pressured!
Oh, no, not just a bit. I'm actually too pressured right now!
It's happening!
"Beloved Parents and Godparents, we have come here to introduce this child to the sacrament water of the Holy Spirit," said the priest.
All eyes are on me, with Kai's parents standing beside me.
"Aveline Pearl, receive the gift of new life from God," the priest said with a smile, as he carefully poured water over my head.
Indeed, I felt blessed, granted with a new beginning and a new life from Him.
I closed my eyes to fully absorb the blessings and His grace.
"Now, you shall be called a child of God," He declared.
I smiled warmly at everyone around me, but my gaze soon sought out the one who had made all of this possible. Because without him, this day wouldn't occur.
My eyes landed on the pew that was three rows away from me.
"What? You could do so much better, anak!" Ma'am Chantal huffed, shaking her head.
"She doesn't want it, so I didn't get one," he explained, referring to me.
"Ah, gano'n ba?"
I suddenly felt scared.
"Okay, sige! Ilabas mo na ang phone mo. Picture taking na tayo!"
Ma'am Chantal started to call the Godparents in front of the altar for all of us to gather here.
I looked at him.
