As Simple As That

Empty promises are the only hope I'm now forced to romanticize

when your mouth nibbles on the leftovers of your strangled words.

My neighbor listens with one ear plugged when I yell at the phone,

At you who desperately believes is truly happy with a voice so scathed.

You were raised a man, how come the nooks of your brain can't fathom

The simple revelation of how you have to convince me you're not pathetic?

Isn't that pathetic? Isn't that dramatic? Is this not so sarcastic?

And truth be told, the beauty of poetic rhymes is out of the question.

You are the mossy grave I've long gone to accept. I have grieved you.

It's as simple as that.
