Avatar The Last Airbender: The Pillar Of Stone

Chapter 8: Jet Pt.1

The gang is in a forest of trees with red leaves. Ying is running throughout the trees with Momo flying and chasing bugs. They're running around until Momo comes across a thing with berries on it. Momo inspects it and goes to jump on it, accidentally setting off a trap that captures him alongside two hogmonkeys. Ying was smart and didn't get close to it enough to set it off while Momo just looked around the cage. Away from their place, Appa and the others are resting in a particularly cleared part of the forest. 

Aang: Where's Momo?

Y/n: I felt Ying chase after something. So it was probably Momo. 

Suddenly there's a screech and the gang gets up, following after it until the come across the cages. They see Ying was just staring up at them, pawing at them until she noticed Y/n and a single quick dash toward him later, she immediately stops in front of him. Y/n feels her paw a little against his leg. 

Y/n: It's okay, Ying. What's wrong? 

Aang: Momo's in a cage! Hang on Momo!

He uses his airbending to shoot him upward toward the cages, bouncing off trees to keep going with the momentum he'd just gathered. Another burst of air later and he finally makes it to the trees where the cages are hanging from. He messes with the pulley system and Momo's cage got loose, gently going towards the ground where Y/n cages it. He places it down and pulls it apart to where Momo can crawl out of it. He keeps on eating the berries or nuts that had been in the cage in the first place. 

Sokka: Ugh!

The Hogmonkeys start making noise and Aang looks up at them. 

Aang: Alright, you too. 

He goes up to free them but Sokka is impatient. 

Sokka: This is going to take forever. 

Pulling out his boomerang, he throws it to cut the ropes and the cages hit the ground. Sokka catches it as it comes back to him. 

Aang: That works. 

Y/n pries open the cages and the hogmonkeys flee the area. Y/n feels the cages as they lay against the ground and the rope while Aang comes jumping back down. 

Y/n: I wonder whose traps these are? 

Sokka looks at the traps and can tell the handy work. Y/n wasn't a trap aficionado like him and being blind didn't make it better. 

Sokka: These are Fire Nation traps. You can tell from the metal work. 

Y/n: The metal does feel different than Earth Kingdom metal. 

Sokka: We'd better pack up camp and keep moving. 

Doing as he had suggested, the gang decide to leave the area. They pack up their stuff and throw it onto Appa with Y/n keeping his bag around him. Sokka looks at Aang. 

Sokka: No flying this time. 

Aang: What? Why wouldn't we fly? 

Y/n thinks for a moment and nods. 

Y/n: Think about it, Aang. We keep being found by Zuko and other firebenders because as great as Appa is, he's not exactly inconspicuous. 

Appa makes a grunt and Y/n pets him. 

Y/n: I still love you, buddy. 

Sokka nods in agreement. 

Sokka: He's right. Appa's too noticeable. 

Katara: What? Appa's not too noticeable. 

Sokka: He's a gigantic fluffy monster with an arrow on his head! It's kind of hard to miss him.
