Chapter 40: The Earth King

On a small island in the center of the Lake, Appa is being hugged by Aang who had been is such a down spiral mood after he was stolen. With him back now, the gang is back together and no one will pull them apart ever again. Smellerbee is holding onto Y/n's arm as he comforts her over the Jet's death.

Aang: I missed you more than you'll ever know, buddy.

Momo flies onto his head and Aang slides down off of him only to be licked by Appa. Sayo is also by Appa as she welcomes him back with a big hug to the front of his head much like Aang had a moment ago. Toph is sitting on the ground at Y/n & Bee's feet, not feeling like she wants to stand at the moment. Sokka goes over to Katara. 

Sokka: Look, we escaped from the Dai Li. We got Appa back. I'm telling you, we should go to the Earth King now and tell him our plan. We're on a roll.

Katara: One good hour after weeks of trouble isn't much of a roll.

The tall blind boy "looks" in their direction. As much as he wishes he could be as optimistic as Sokka, that's not his reality. 

Y/n: She's not wrong, Sokka. I wouldn't jump to conclusions like we're out of the water just yet. 

The "Leader" groans as he leans back a little before straightening up. 

Sokka: We can build on it. If we want to invade the Fire Nation when the eclipse happens, we'll need the Earth King's support.

Toph: What makes you think we'll get it? I don't know if you've noticed, but things don't usually go that smoothly for our little gang.

Bee sniffles and wipes her eyes as she faces the rest of them. She coughs to clear her throat before speaking to the rest of the gang, agreeing with Toph's sentiment. 

Smellerbee: Toph's not wrong. Last time I checked he doesn't know us, and secondly I would imagine Long Feng has him under his weird mind control. The pony tail guy's a freak and the King is a man child. 

Sokka: I know, but I've got a good feeling about this. This time will be different.

Y/n earthbends a chair up out of the ground and kisses Bee on the forehead, letting her sit in it as he crosses his arms at Sokka. 

Y/n: Sokka, so far the only big thing that's happened to us here is finding Appa and even that didn't go incredibly smooth. What makes you think this time will be any different? That Long Feng fellow is in control of the city, the Dai Li, and pretty much everything else in the Kingdom.

Katara: I think we should just keep flying and leave this horrible place behind us.

Toph: I'm with Sugar Queen. I've seen enough of Ba Sing Se. 

The short, yet powerful girl raises both arms and opens her eyes wide.

Toph: And I can't even see!

The Avatar lands over where the rest of them are with a happy smile etched onto his face now that his furry friend is back home where he needs to be. He has Sayo in his hands as he lands, putting her down for her to run over to Y/n with a smile. Y/n picks her up and puts her on both shoulders. 

Aang: But now that we have Appa back, there's nothing stopping us from telling the Earth King the truth. About the conspiracy and the War.

Sokka: See? Aang's with me. 

The "Leader" of the group puts his arm around Aang and smiles.

Sokka: It's the whole reason we came here in the first place. We have to try.

The young waterbending master thinks it over and in the end, she agrees. 

Katara: Well, I guess if the Earth King knew the truth, things could change.
