Introduction
_________________________________________Disclaimer:
- You are sensitive to mental illness, sexual abuse, drug use, sex, violence, strong language, eating disorders, and suicide.
- For those of you who read The Halls of Westwood, this storyline falls in more with the rewrite I'm currently working on so some things will be different about his backstory. And for those of you who didn't, this can be read as a standalone or as a part of the series!
- This story comes from a native and queer author breaking the cycle of addiction. I wrote it with the intent of bringing to life modern native characters and it is 1000% intended to be in your face Indigenous. Growing up, the best representation I had was Brother Bear and Pocahontas and even on this app if you look up native American one of the first things that comes up is colonizer fan fiction that has their characters speaking fucking Hindi. However, with the rise of shows like Rez Dogs and movies like Wildhood and Frybread Face and Me, it has me inspired. This is meant to be a story that addresses the beautiful parts of my (Shawnee) culture and language while honestly addressing how poverty and generational trauma impacts native communities.
Now that that's over, time for fun stuff!_________________________________________
