Arielle's POV

"I bet you 50 bucks he didn't get her number" Kylie whispered into my ear. There was a new girl in school today - i think her name was Tiffany or something - typical for a five foot ten, tanned, blonde haired, blue eyed Californian girl. Obviously, she had tons of guys flooding her on her first day of school. So far, she'd rejected every guy that had asked for her out. I noticed how Nate had been slyly staring at her for the past ten minutes so i challenged him to ask her out and see if she'd accept his offer - she'd have to be an idiot to reject him. Although me and Nate have been nothing but close friends since kindergarten, it was hard to deny he was a good looking boy. But, he was off limits to me anyways. We had a 'no dating policy' in our group since that time Blair and Nate became a one week couple in the ninth grade and almost destroyed our friendship group. Saying it ended badly was an understatement. However, that 'no dating policy' was thrown out the window two months ago when me and Miles became a couple.

"Deal" i whispered back quietly as Nate re-approached our spot on the chartreuse greenery of San Clemente high school which was occupied by hundreds of students scattered across the field. Girls wearing mini-skirts showing off their legs sunbathed in the center of the field, seeking attention from the male population of the school. They earned lustful glances from hormonal teenage boys of San Clemente high school - and glares from the girlfriends of those hormonal teenage boys. Benches were scattered all over the field and were occupied with girls and boys laughing, chatting and completing last minute assignments and essays. Some couples sat isolated at the back of the field with their tongues down each others throat, thinking no one could see them.

Nate took a seat opposite me and Kylie with a smirk glued on his face which only means one thing - he got her number. "So i'm guessing you got her number, judging from that look on your face" I chuckled searching desperately through my bag for a hair band - the heat was just too much today, especially with thick, long hair like mine, i desperately needed to tie my hair up. "Of course i did, come on Arielle you should know me by now...what girl has ever rejected this?" he smirked, signalling to his body. "Well there was that one time last year at Amy Skinner's sixteenth birthday when you tried to-" I was cut off by Nate, who had probably made up a lie to cover up that embarrassing story "That doesn't count, she was a lesbian and how was i supposed to know?" he claimed, fixing his hair. "Maybe the fact that she had her tongue down a girls throat majority of the night?" I replied recalling the events of that night in my head. Nate decided he would ask this girl out - whilst her girlfriend was standing right next to her. So he approached her, used a few lines, attempted to ask for her number then ten minutes later i see Nate running out the party with one hand clutching his jaw, and the other clutching his crotch. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what was happening there.

"Guys can you stop talking about girls and lesbians i'm trying to finish this essay before next period!" Dylan exclaimed from beside me. He had been sitting here the whole time, deeply connected with the piece of paper in front of him. It was very unlikely of Dylan to be completing his homework ten minutes before the deadline - he usually finished it the day he got it. "Dylan Stone is doing his homework ten minutes before its deadline? Am i seeing this right?" Nate chuckled, changing the subject. "Don't ask. My relatives from Idaho are visiting for two weeks and guess what? All six of them are staying at my house. Which makes ten people living in a four bedroom house. Do the math" he exhaled, rubbing his temples. "Poor little Dylan. Are any of your female cousins hot by any chance?" Nate asked, wiggling his eyebrows which earned him a playful punch from Dylan.

Seconds later we were accompanied by Elysia who had dyed her hair bright red this week. Last week was electric blue and the week before was milkshake pink - i guess you could say she's going through a phase of trying to find herself. "Hey guys, what do you think?" she asked, signalling to her hair and spinning around, allowing us to observe. "Well its a lot better than the blue, babe" Kylie admitted, i think everyone at the table so far could agree it was a lot better than her past hairstyles. Although, i wished she'd grow her hair longer - it just about reached her shoulders. "I like it hun. But since when did you get your tongue pierced?" i asked, noticing the new metal stud in her mouth which became visible whenever she spoke. "Oh shit you can see that?" she exclaimed covering her mouth, as if that'd make a difference. "Ruby pierced it for me last night, is it really obvious?" she nervously asked, fixing her hair. Ruby is Elysia's girlfriend, they've been together for about six months now. Elysia only came out about her sexuality three months ago, so it's still new to her. Her parents weren't very supportive throughout that time but its lucky she had us to support her and eventually, her parents were forced to accept her. "Only when you open your mouth. Just give us a break and stop speaking then no one will notice" Dylan jokingly suggested which provoked Elysia to lightly punch him and ruffle his hair. "You know you all love me. Your lives wouldn't be complete without me" she stated stealing Kylie's half eaten nachos and tossing them in her mouth.
