Chapter 74

Coruscant has not changed since the Empire's regime fell. The planet officially became the capital of the New Republic. Mon Mothma became the chancellor. Bail Organa of the new Alderaan - the planet , which became the place for the people of Aldreraan , whose planet was destroyed by the Death Star. Bail's adoptive daughter Leia married Han Solo and gave birth to a son - Ben Solo , who is now the padawan of Luke Skywalker - the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. Leia became prime minister of the New Republic. She promised herself , that she would do her best for the government and citizens. Sabine had never been to Coruscant - this was her first time , finding in the capital of the New Republic. For her, this place will be associated with politics.

"Ghost" landed on the government helipad. Wren-Bridger lied to the flight controller , that she was on a political delegation by order of the Duchess of Mandalore Bo-Katan Kryze. The controller was quite surprised. Everyone knew that the Mandalorians had seceded from the galaxy. They despised the New Republic and what was left of the Empire.

Sabine left with her escort. Fennec , Alex , Jaina , Soren and Chelii surrounded the Clan Bridger leader as if she were an important personality. Personal bodyguard and attaché Erskin Semaj, along with Senate building security chief Joel Cairo, came out to meet the Mandalorians. Semaj looked at the former Rebel.

"Hello Sabine" Erskin greeted "The controller told me , you are on a visit."

"Yes" Sabine admitted lying "I came here to see the Chancellor."

"Like any ruler" Erskin muttered 'Please follow me' After a while everyone followed Semaj.

Sabine followed the attache looking around the building. She could still feel the presence of the Empire here. She had the feeling that someone was following her. She heard about the New Republic Security Bureau and the head of the bureau - Erlich Vonger , who was a former Imperial. Many people did not believe in Vonger as a person loyal to the new government. Sabine had only heard of him. The Wren-Bridger guards were ready for anything.

They reached the office. Erskin introduced the Chancellor to the guests. He left, returning to his business. Mon Motha - Chancellor of the New Republic approached Sabine.

"Hello Sabine" the redhead greeted 'We haven't seen each other for a long time'.

"Reciprocally  Chancellor" Wren-Bridger nodded. Mon pointed to a chair. Sabine sat down. The chair was even comfortable. Apparently it was a chair from the Jedi council. The Jedi had a nice selection of furniture. Mon settled into her seat.

"What brings you to me Sabine?" Mothma asked. "I'm curious why Duchess Kryze herself didn't come here."

"I lied," Wren admitted, "I am here to ask for help. Our people. The entire galaxy is in danger"

"The Empire has been destroyed." The chancellor countered. "I signed the galactic agreement with Mas Amedda."

"It's not the Empire your Excellency," Sabine said respectfully to the ruling New Republic, "It's the Sith. The Sith have returned."

"Palpatine is dead. I guess" Mothma felt strange" That old man always had a plan"

"It's not him my lady" Sabine said again respectfully" Caedus Ordo. He is a Sith from our people. He poses a threat to everyone. He has a huge fleet and his acolytes , ties to the sydykats and the Empire. If he is not stopped , everyone will die and the Sith will take over . . . Again."

"But , what will the Senate say" Mothma put her hands on the table 'What will the people say'.

"Screw them" Sabine growled "They are stupid . You are the one with more power. You rule the whole galaxy. You have the bigger say."

"I'm sorry Sabine" Mon countered "But the Senate has to agree. So what if I have the power. The Senate has to know my opinion. It won't be easy to convince them. They will consider it superstition and extortion to increase the budget for the military. I want to help you Sabine. That you lied to me is what I knew from the beginning. Bo-Katan Kryze herself , would have informed me. In the New Republic you are welcome. It was you who defeated Grand Admiral Thrawn and numerous fleets of the Empire."

Sabine , when she heard Thrawn's name it quivered. Thrawn. What if he is alive? And he's planning his revenge on the Mandalorians. Wren-Bridger grabbed her head.

"And where is your comrade Bridger?" Mothma asked

"He sacrificed himself" Sabine admitted as if in front of a good friend "He sacrificed himself , to defeat Thrawn"

"I'm sorry" the Chancellor said sadly "Ezra Bridger was a very interesting person , whom I met in my life."

"So" Sabine looked at the Chancellor" Will you help me in the fight?"

"Unfortunately" Mothma admitted "I can't help you. The New Republic has its own problems too. But , I can help you with one thing"

"Which one?" The Mandalorian asked , being angry at the same time for Mon's refusal to help.

"A few hours ago some two Jedi attacked a cruiser of our fleet. No one survived. Agent Kallus is working on the case. You can join in if you want."

"And so I will," Sabine stood up. "Thank you, ma'am, for meeting me."

"No. It's me who thanks you. It's nice to see a friend after so many years. Goodbye Sabine. May the Force be with you"

After receiving the coordinates, the "Ghost" and its fleet of pirates exited hyperspace over the destroyed Republic cruiser. VCX-100 landed in the hangar. Ahsoka, along with Sabine and the rest, came out to meet Alexandr Kallus. The man smiled at the sight of the Mandalorian woman.

"Hello Sabine" Kallus began 'We haven't seen each other for a long time'.

"You haven't changed a bit" Sabine replied with a smile" How are you?"

"Nothing. Still working" Kallus countered "This case is thicker than I thought."

"What happened?" Ahsoka Tano asked

"Two Jedi or no Jedi it's hard for me to determine" Kallus began "They landed their shuttle in the hangar. The captain of the ship laughed at them for not being Jedi and the massacre began. All of them are dead. The prisoners, on the other hand, were taken away."

"Do you know what they looked like?" Tano asked. Kallus took out a holo communicator and turned it on displaying two people. An older man and a young girl. Ahsoka looked at them.

"Do you know them?" Alexandr asked

"No," Ahsoka admitted, "I don't associate either of them. But my lightsaber expert might recognize them"

"Okay. I'll give you this" Kallus handed over the holo - Tano's communicator "Anything else?"

"Will you join us?" Sabine asked "The Sith have returned. Syndicates and remnants of the Empire are joining them. They have a huge fleet. They must be stopped "

"Does the Chancellor know about this?" Kallus asked uncertainly

"She knows. But , he won't do anything. The Senate has to agree to it. Do you want to fail as before?"

"It will be better than my current job. I'm joining you," Kallus said. Sabine smiled

"Welcome to the team" the Mandalorian started walking towards her ship "Time for the next target"

"What?" The New Republic agent asked.

"Tatooine"
