A conversation between a short guy and a shorter girl.
"You think I'm short too, do you?"
I looked up at him, sighing.
"What I think.. what I think is that I'm in no position to call you short."
It took a moment for him to get it.
And then he burst out laughing.
Putting on a faux indignant face, I turned away. But on the inside, I was pleased to have made him laugh, because I could tell that his height was something he felt genuinely insecure about.
Which is stupid. I mean, really, what does being tall achieve? Unless you're a sports person—which neither of us were— height literally accomplishes nothing. Except maybe instilling a demonic tendency in tall people to tease short people and make them feel even worse about something that eats away at them anyway.
Tall people are so dumb. Must be because they have their heads high up in the clouds..
