Aradhya

It has been a whole month since my return from Delhi. I was really down in the dumps, and my loved ones tried their best to lift my spirits. It did work to some extent, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of sadness entirely, and I found myself breaking down every night when I was alone.

I always believed that distance was no match for the strength of our relationship, but unfortunately, that trust was completely shattered. I have had enough, and I am determined to move on and be happy. If he can forget me completely, then why can't I do the same?

However, before I can move on, I need some answers from him. It's time to face him and get the closure I need to move forward with my life.

"Why not Maa? Why can't I meet him? I just want some answers from him!" I said, my voice trembling with emotion. For some reason, my mother never seemed to agree with me, no matter how much I begged.

"Try to understand Aaru," she said in a gentle voice. "He already moved on. You should do it too."

"Mom, I promise you I will move on, and for that, I need an answer. And I don't care if you allow me or not, I'm going to meet him--" I was cut off mid-sentence as my her hand met my cheeks with a loud slap.

"ARADHYA! I SAID YOU WILL NOT MEET HIM. AM I CLEAR TO YOU!" She shouted, her face contorted with anger. "You should be ashamed of thinking of going back to a person who didn't want anything from you anymore."

Overwhelmed with emotions, I couldn't hold back my tears any longer and ran back to my room, feeling hurt and confused. Why Mom was being so harsh and unsympathetic towards me? I couldn't help but cry as I tried to make sense of everything that had just happened.

Author's Pov

The house was eerily quiet after the unfortunate incident that took place in the morning. Aradhya's mother was in a state of disbelief, feeling ashamed of herself for having lost control. She didn't want to slap her daughter, but at the same time, she couldn't let her go and meet Rehan either.

"Why is this happening in my daughter's life?" she cried, her husband trying to console her. He assured her that it wasn't entirely her fault, but she remained adamant.

He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and whispered sweet nothings in her ear, telling her that everything would be okay. He knew that she was struggling to come to terms with what had happened.

Later that night, everyone sat around the dining table, but Aradhya was conspicuously absent.

Niraj innocently asked ''Maa, why was Aayu didi not coming out of her room?"

"Niru!" Priya scolded him with a stern look and his face saddened down. Priya was old enough to understand the gravity of the situation, but Niraj was too young to comprehend what was going on.

Anuradha forced a sad smile and told Niraj that his sister was feeling a bit under the weather.

She knew that Aradhya hadn't eaten anything since morning, But then an idea came into her head, and she decided to ask Niraj to go and make her eat some parathas.

"Niraj, can you please go and make your sister eat these parathas?" she asked him, hoping that it would lift Aradhya's spirits. Niraj happily nodded and went to his sister's room with the plate of parathas.

Niraj knocks at the door of Aradhya's room. After knocking a few times, Aradhya got annoyed and shouted,
"Go back, Priya"

"Di, open the door," he said softly.
"Di it's me, Niraj." Anuradha knows it clearly, Aradhya couldn't say no to Niraj.

No answer. Niraj knocks again,
"Di, please open the door, I have brought the parathas you love so much."

"Didi, you know, I love you so much. So please open the door. And eat this for me."
His childish tone, full of innocence was enough to melt anyone's heart.

He knocks again and a voice comes out, the voice is so cracked it sounds like a person who has just been crying for hours.

"N-Niraj," Aradhya's voice was shaky, she could barely even speak, she had been sobbing for so long, that she had no strength left.

She finally opens the door and hugs her little brother. As Niraj embraced her in his arms in return, she couldn't help but think, he was the only one who could comfort her like this.

He held her hand and fed her the paratha,  At first she refused but finally gave in.

After she ate the food, both of them were silent for a while and then after a long silence,

"It'll get better didi, trust me." Niraj was so innocent, and he probably didn't even realize the depth of his reply.

"It'll get better, didi." Niraj once again said and Aradhya buried her face into his shoulders and hugged him tighter, knowing that he had already made it better for her.

After he left, Tears streaming down her face again, Aradhya buried her face in her pillow once again and cried, hoping everything would soon pass

The night was very much lonely as the cold breeze passed the moon shined brightly and so did the stars but still something was missing and something was wrong.

Without thinking she picked up her phone and dialed  Rehan's number.
She didn't even realize she was calling him. But in her subconscious, she knew she needed him.

"Aradhya?''
