When I woke up, I knew immediately where I was. The smell of dirt sea water and shrimp filled my nostrils as I sat up, gripping the blanket underneath me. I knew he was there, but I couldn't bear to look at him.
"Did they say anything when they dropped me off?"
I shut my eyes now and tried to swallow. It was nearly impossible I was so dehydrated.
"No."
A water glass was placed into my hands, but i didn't lift it to my lips, I just sat there, sitting until I felt like I could breathe again.
"I was so close. I was there. But I just... I couldn't..."
The bed sank under his weight as he slid in next to me and draped his arm over my shoulder. My throat hurt and my eyes were wet by the time I finally took a drink.
"You're not going to say anything?"
I finally dared a glance up at his face. He was staring at me so intensely I thought I might actually melt.
"Welcome home Love."
