𝑵o one knew why Mr and Mrs Vanderbel neglected the meticulous accomplishments of their 'one of a kind' daughter, no matter if she put a halt to world hunger or ceased the constant Napoleonic conquering of Europe; they're only ever hyper-fixated with psycho-analysing Clementine's four helpless siblings which appear to spend their day manufacturing illegitimate bastards with a side of drinking their sorrows away ( stupidly enough with a frugal brandy preferably than a fervid whiskey ). Although, there was one sibling Clem worshiped and admired more than anything; Phineas Vanderbel.
However, Clem never took the redundant alcoholism solemnly as why could a wealthy man with the world at his feet feel any categorical feelings of despair? A man at the very top of social hierarchy could recieve any wish he desired: revive the Grand Tour, be a wrinkly elderly bachelor with no judgment and be in arms reach of as many lovers as he craves in trade of an heir.
To the contrary, ladies were to follow sets of rules to live up to maritial standards instead of entering the life of an unwanted spinster: debut into society as ripe as possible, avoid any masculine activities/behaviour and speak only on topics which you understand. Similarly to that, Clementine and all girls alike were aware exactly how their epilogue would play out before they were able to utter the words 'mama and papa'.
Yet every courtship the eccentrically erratic lady indulged in terminated presumably caused by the fact of the world wide discovery that Clementine had a greater personality than any nobleman could imagine. Not to mention the mountain amounts of controversial interests she had!
Nevertheless, Clem anticipated the man who she will wed would undress her soul before even wandering to the thought of stripping her off her purity; desiring only an heir to the family name rather than true love — unlike her merciless brothers.
