Shubman’s POV
Ughh... finally the matches are over.
I let my body fall back against the headboard of the hotel bed, arms stretched behind my head as the post-match exhaustion began to hit.
I couldn’t even have a proper talk with Akanksha because of these back-to-back matches. It was annoying. I missed her voice. Her random rants. Her overuse of emojis. Her voice notes that always started with “Guess what happened!”
I groaned. Wait, Shubman... you both have been talking for over a year now. You know each other pretty well. So...
Why are you acting like a high schooler in love?
I blinked. This needed sorting. And there was only one man who could help me figure this mess.
I grabbed my phone.
📞 Calling Ishan
“Ishaan, sun... mere room mein aa ja jaldi,” I said as soon as he picked up.
“Abe saale, kya kaam hai? Main so raha tha,” came his grumpy, half-asleep reply.
I checked the time. “Shaam ke 6 baje... khair wo chhod, tu jaldi aa mere room mein.”
“Badle mein mujhe kya milega?” he mumbled like a lazy toddler.
“Maar.”
“Kya bola?”
“Bahar le jaunga dinner ke liye.” I bribed.
There was a pause. Then—
“Theek hai, abhi aata hoon.”
Meanwhile Akanksha’s POV
Currently, I was humming a lullaby softly while gently patting Akaay to sleep.
Wait, did I never mention him before?
You guys won’t believe it, but I was actually the assistant during bhabhi’s delivery. I had been in the delivery ward, gloved and gowned, witnessing the miracle of life up close. That was one of the most beautiful moments of my life—and one of the proudest too. Being a gynecologist truly hits different sometimes.
Oh… Akaay so gaya. I smiled softly and carefully laid him down in his crib.
“Vami beta,” I called out to my niece sweetly, “aap nanny ke saath Akaay ka khayal rakhna ha… main apne room mein jaa rahi hoon.”
I turned to Sudha didi, our ever-reliable nanny. “Aur didi, in dono ka khayal rakhna. Bhai aur bhabhi aate hi honge.”
I gently caressed Akaay’s tiny fingers. I was the first to hold this cutie after he was born... My heart did a soft little sigh.
Back in my room, I switched off the lights, turned on the fairy lights around my mirror, and plopped onto the bed with a bowl of snacks in one hand and my K-drama episode paused at 00:02.
Just when the male lead leaned in to kiss the FL, my brain betrayed me with a random memory of... Shubman.
“Ughhh... why do I keep seeing him in my dreams?” I muttered to myself, smacking my forehead with a cushion.
Well... psychology says-If someone appears in your dreams, it means that person is missing you.
I sat upright. “Do I believe this? Should I believe this?”
Sighing, I pushed aside my laptop and pulled out a patient’s file to review. Maybe reading something clinical would distract me from the cricketer who's suddenly haunting both my dreams and waking hours.
Shubman’s POV – Team Hotel Room
“Ishaan, sun... mujhse ab aur nahi ho raha yaar,” I said, pacing in front of him like a stressed-out hero from a 90s movie.
Ishaan lazily looked up from where he sat cross-legged on my bed, munching chips. “Kis ke liye ya phir kis se?”
I paused. Took a breath. And confessed- “
Aku se door.”
Cue water fountain moment. Ishaan coughed so hard he literally spit water on my face.
“CHEE YARR ISHAAN!” I shouted, grabbing a towel.
He laughed through his coughs. “Sorry, yaar! I know you like her... and I know she does too… par I’m confused.”
I smacked the back of his head.
“Ouu kya yaar—ruk ruk, main samajh gaya. Tu chahta hai ki main help karu… propose karne mein?”
I grinned. “Waa meri jaan, tu toh bohot hoshiyar hai.”
He beamed proudly. “Ek kaam karte hain... kal tu, main aur Abhi lunch pe chalte hain. Main Samiksha aur Tapasya ko bhi bula loonga. Fir hum paanch milke plan karenge.”
“Haan, accha idea hai,” I nodded, excitement sparking in my chest.
Maybe... finally...
Knock knock.
We both turned to the door.
“Come in,” I called.
And in walked none other than Virat Bhai.
“Guys, ek team meeting bulayi hai Rohit ne. Chalo,” he said, no-nonsense as always.
Me and Ishaan shared a look.
Operation Propose Aku: Pending. Meeting with Captain Sharma: Immediate.
We got up and followed him.
But somewhere deep in my chest, I knew…
Tomorrow was going to be a game-changer.
