Chapter 26 - Edited

(Mason) "You were in a car crash."

(Olivia) "You saved me." – she stands next to me.

Her eyes widen and she puts her hand on her forehead.

(Mason) "What?"

(Maya) "I have something to tell you..."

She looks really worried about something and I'm starting to get a little concerned of what it could be.

(Mason) "Then say it."

She looks at everybody and I know that she doesn't want them to hear.

(Mason) "All of you get out please."

They all leave except her father.

(Mason) "What part of «get out» you didn't understand?" – I ask him.

He groans and leaves too.

(Mason) "What's going on?"

(Maya) "I saw James today."

(Mason) "Where?"

(Maya) "Not important. But he was talking to the snitch you mentioned a few days ago."

(Mason) "You saw the snitch?"

She nods.

(Mason) "Who is it?"

(Maya) "You believe me, right? I know what I'm talking about. Please believe in me." – her eyes get watery again.

(Mason) "Hey, of course I believe in you." – I caress her cheek.

She smiles softly.

(Maya) "It's your father. I saw him with James."

My own father is betraying me? Why would he do that?

(Maya) "He was the one who said to take down Olivia..."

(Mason) "Are you sure? M-Maybe you saw someone that looked like him."

(Maya) "Mason, I'm telling you. He mentioned his niece, Olivia. It's him..."

(Mason) "But, why?"

(Maya) "I don't know... But call off the transaction you're going to make. He told James about it and James will kill everyone."

I lower my head, put my hand on my forehead and I hear some noises from the bed.

(Maya) "Mason, I'm so sorry..."

I look at her and she's sitting right next to me. I give her a reassuring smile.

(Mason) "Thank you."

She wraps her arms around my neck and I put mine around her waist.

(Mason) "I missed these..."

She chuckles.

(Maya) "Me too..."

I break from the hug and I wipe her tears that have fallen.

(Mason) "Why did you leave me?"

She looks at her lap. I raise her chin with my fingers.

(Maya) "I lost my mind... I knew that one of us would get hurt so I figured it was the best to do it..."

I sigh.

(Maya) "I'm sorry..."

(Mason) "You lied to me. You broke my heart. I actually thought you didn't care for me at all..."

(Maya) "I do. I care a lot about you that's why I did it."

(Mason) "You're crazy." – I chuckle.
