As the morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across her bedroom, Lily stirred from her slumber. The events of the previous day replayed in her mind like a vivid dream, and she couldn't shake the lingering unease that had settled in her chest.

With a sigh, she pushed herself out of bed and padded across the room to her dresser. As she got dressed, her thoughts drifted to the encounter outside the bar and the protective presence of Paul by her side. Despite her initial fear, she felt a sense of gratitude for his unwavering support.

Descending the stairs, Lily found her grandparents already seated at the kitchen table, sipping on their morning tea. Their familiar faces brought her a sense of comfort, grounding her in the present moment.

"Good morning, Lily dear," her grandmother greeted her with a warm smile. "How did you sleep?"

Lily offered a small smile in return, though her mind was still preoccupied with the events of the previous day. "Morning, ma. I slept alright, I guess."

Her grandfather peered at her over the rim of his teacup, concern etched into his features. "Is everything alright, Lily? You seem a bit...disturbed."

Lily hesitated, unsure of how to articulate her feelings. "It's nothing, pa. Just had a strange encounter yesterday, that's all."

Her grandmother reached out, placing a comforting hand on hers. "Well, you know you can always talk to us about anything, dear. We're here for you."

Feeling a surge of gratitude for her grandparents' unwavering support, Lily nodded. "Thanks, ma. I appreciate it."

After breakfast, Lily made her way to the flower shop, her mind still clouded with thoughts of the previous day. As she unlocked the door and stepped inside, she was greeted by the familiar sight of colorful blooms and the gentle hum of classical music playing softly in the background.

Paul was already there, arranging a fresh batch of roses in the display window. He glanced up as Lily entered, offering her a warm smile. "Morning, beautiful. How are you feeling today?"

Lily returned his smile, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "Morning, Paulie. I'm...alright, I guess."

Sensing her unease, Paul set down the bouquet he was holding and approached her, concern etched into his features. "Is everything okay? You seem a bit off."

Lily hesitated, unsure of how much to share. "It's just...yesterday, outside the bar. I can't shake the feeling of...vulnerability."

Paul's expression softened, understanding flickering in his eyes. "I get it, Lily. It was a scary situation. But you handled it with grace and courage. You're stronger than you think."

Lily offered him a grateful smile and hugged him for a good amount of time, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Thanks, Paulie. I needed to hear that."

"Aww, stop being so sticky cute." Paul said, softly pinching on Lily's cheeks, as he thought about lifting her mood up.

"Ow, I told you to not pinch on my cheeks." She said while caressing them with a small pout on her lips.

"You're doing it on purpose, right. Acting so cute all day." He squealed and ruffled her hair, making her slap his hand away and throw a glare towards him.

"You're bullying me." She whined and quickly left from there to start working as blush crept on her cheeks.

"Aww, my baby is shy." He teased, making her stomp her feet in the back room.
He chuckled hearing her stomping feet and they continued to do their work.

As the day wore on, Lily found herself immersed in her work, the familiar rhythm of arranging flowers and assisting customers serving as a comforting distraction. With each passing hour, she felt a sense of clarity and purpose returning to her.

On the same time, somewhere on the planet, as the morning sun filtered through the windows of his lavish cabin retreat, Daniel sat at his desk, surrounded by the trappings of success.
Yet, despite his achievements, there was a lingering emptiness in his heart, a void left by the absence of his childhood.

Leaning back in his leather chair, Daniel's thoughts drifted to the memories of his past, to the days of carefree laughter and boundless joy he had shared with Lily.

But those memories were overshadowed by the pain of their separation and responsibilities.

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Daniel's parents entered the room, their expressions cold and distant.

They were the epitome of wealth and privilege, but beneath their polished exterior lurked a darkness that Daniel had long tried to escape.

"Daniel, darling, we need to talk," his mother said, her tone dripping with disapproval.

Daniel braced himself for the familiar onslaught of criticism and manipulation.

"What is it, Mother?" he asked, his voice betraying none of the turmoil that churned within him.

His father sighed heavily, his gaze stern and unyielding. "We've heard about your plans to meet with that girl, Lily. We thought we made it clear that she's not welcome in our lives anymore."

Daniel felt a surge of anger rise within him at his parents' callous disregard for his feelings.

"Lily is my friend, Mother. She always has been, and she always will be. We grew up together. I won't let you dictate who I can and cannot see."

His mother's eyes narrowed into icy slits, her voice dripping with disdain. "You always were the stubborn one, Daniel. Instead of focusing on earning more money, you want to meet that girl who we forgot about years ago. But mark my words, associating with that girl will only bring you bad luck and embarrassment."

"You can leave now."
Not wanting to argue with them anymore, he ignored his parents' warnings, Daniel turned his attention back to the task at hand.

He needed to find a way to reconnect with Lily, to bridge the chasm that had formed between them over the years.
As he mulled over his options, a plan began to form in his mind.

He would reach out to Lily, apologize for his absence. He would do whatever it took to reclaim the warmth and companionship they had shared in their childhood.

With a newfound sense of determination, Daniel picked up his phone and dialed his secretary; Emily's number.

This was his chance to set things right, to forge a new path forward, free from the shadow of his parents' influence.

And here, as the sun began to set and the shop grew quiet, Lily found herself reflecting on the events of the day. With the unwavering support of her grandparents and the reassuring presence of Paul by her side, she knew that she could face whatever challenges lay ahead.

With renewed determination, Lily locked up the shop and made her way home, a sense of peace settling over her. As she drifted off to sleep that night, she felt a newfound sense of strength and resilience coursing through her veins, ready to embrace whatever changes the future may hold.

Hey pretty~
Oof, two updates in a day. I was thinking about publishing the chapter later but I thought that what's the point of keeping it in draft if it's already done, right?
Btw my classes are going to start from tomorrow, which is going to make me so busy but I'll try to think about the story in my free time, instead of using my phone for useless stuff.

And again I'm saying share your thoughts, who knows maybe it'll help me upload new chapters more frequently ;)

And don't forget to be hydrated <3
