                                                                                    Elijah's POV

Garroth sat in the back next to me and Lucinda. Then he asked "Are we there yet?" Lucinda said in a bored tone ,"No." "How about now?" I asked. "No!" She was a bit more angry this time "How about--?" Garroth started to ask but Lucinda cut him off. "Garroth, Elijah, you have been asking for an hour, STOP." Kim jumped on our train. "Are we there yet?" Garroth, Kim, and I giggle. Lucinda, angry, yelled at Kim. "Kim! Don't encourage them! Ugh! Aaron, can you believe them?!" Aaron's head shot up, now paying attention. "Huh? Oh sorry," He chuckled. "I put on my earbuds like an hour ago... when you first asked." It was quiet for a while, so I broke the tension and asked, "Are we there yet?" Lucinda sighed in frustration. "Ugh! Kim! Switch seats with me."

Aaron pulled over. "We're here guys." And we all piled out. Garroth smiled a sheepish smile. "Well here we are." Aaron just looked disgusted. "This place is a-"  Me and Lucinda cut him off.  "-total dump." I smiled at her. So I may or may not have been crushing on her for a longgg while. Garroth just scowled. "I don't understand. Our parents said this place was fantastic." Aaron sighed. "Judging by the looks of things, this thing was fantastic, but that was years ago..." He grunted. "Ugh, See why I thought this entire thing was fishy?" "Everyone did Aaron." I said angrily. Kim looked at the placed like it was haunted. "It did sound too good to be true Garroth..." Garroth tried to defend himself. "Yeah! But-... I don't know... It sounded awesome getting paid to vacation." Aaron sighed than yelled at him. "Garroth! We aren't not vacationing! Our parents said to fix things up!" I sighed. "We were never vacationing in this dump." My wolf ears and tail lowered in disappointment. Lucinda smiled a bit and tried lightening the mood. "Well... nothing a few potions can't take care of and...uh, w-wait..wait..." She checked her luggage. "Where's my potion bag!?" I had started drinking from my water bottle before she said that and when I heard that the water was spit...out of my mouth... "W-what!? A bag fully of possibly dangerous potions!?" She nodded. "Great!" I said sarcastically. We all started to search frantically. Kim spoke up. "I-I didn't see any other bags in the car. Maybe you forgot to bring it?" I tried to imagine a scenario, but all that came up was Eli the third (named after me. I'm the first, Aphmau's old stuffed animal was the second, and the cat was Eli the third) taking over Mystreet with the bag. But that isn't possible...right..? Lucinda groaned. "UGH! There's no way I forgot to bring it! I probably put it on the ground and forgot to pick it up somewhere! Y-Yeah!" "It's okay Lucinda. We can get you a new bag." Garroth told her, trying to make her feel better. Lucinda scoffed. "That's not the point! My wand and potion's are in there!" "Is it hard to make potions? Where would you even go to get the ingredients? I didn't even see any stores on the way here." Kim asked. Garroth and me walked closer to the cabin. Lucinda sighed. "I'm... Sure I can find what I need to make some potions but, it won't be easy." Aaron spoke up. "Regardless, Lucinda I heard about your cleaning potions from Dante, and I rather we don't use those here. I want us to fix this place up ourselves and not have everything disappear and reappear in the neighbors backyard." Garroth tried to speak up. "But—" Aaron scolded him before he could finish. "Garroth, I'm here to earn something for someone who I deeply care about. I'm hoping Eli is too?" I nodded, and then Aaron continued. "Those things aren't given, they're earned." Garroth groaned. "Ugh, fair point..." Lucinda spoke up. "Still, I feel naked without my wand or potions...ughh!" My dirty mind paid attention to this and my face turned a bright red. And luckily for me (notice my sarcasm) Lucinda noticed. "Eli...you ok..?" "U-Uh..uh y-yeah f-fine..." I sounded like a robot who's not working. As if my body shut down and a voice over said 'Elijah.exe has stopped working.' Great. "Ooook." She said. And my mind said 'Great Elijah. You probably ruined all chances with her' 'Shut up!' I told my brain and it magically worked. Kim broke my thoughts. "Maybe we should get inside. It's getting really chilly." Aaron nodded. "Right." We walked up to the double doors and Garroth tried opening the doors to this hell. Garroth looking unsure regarded us. "The door is locked." "Didn't your parents give you a key to this place?" Lucinda asked him. Garroth, looking unsure summed up our situation by saying. "Uhhhhh, no." "Garroth!?" I yelled in disbelief. Kim, looking worried asked, "Are we going to freeze to death!?" Garroth looking guilty laughed what Kim said off. "HAHA! No worries! Elijah is great with getting doors open! Just watch!" "I'm what with opening what?" My voice had gotten timid. Aaron had started to look under the rug in front of the double doors. Thank Irene. Garroth yelled, "Stand back everyone!" Pushing me ahead just before Aaron jingled the key he found under the rug Aaron, saving my life, said, "Levin put a key here." Garroth, disappointed said, "Oh, okay..." While I relieved said "Thank Irene!" Aaron unlocked the double doors for us. Kim, scared said, "I'm sure it's not so bad once the lights are on! Here! Lemme get them, and—!" Kim tried to turn on the lights but they didn't work. Kim, in panic mode, muttered, "The lights aren't working!? We're going to die!?" I spoke to Kim. "Now, now Kim. No one dies from a little darkness."  Garroth nodded in agreement. Aaron sighed. "The circuit breaker must be out." "Which means everything else is out as well in this place." Lucinda summed up for us. "Any idea where the circuit breaker is?" Garroth asked.  "They're usually in the basement or the garage, but I have no idea here. Looks like we're gonna have to search for it." Aaron said. Kim, freaked out, yelled "In the dark!?" "Unless it's outside." Garroth summed up. Relieved Kim said. "Oh great, it must be out there! I'll go check and you guys check in here!" She walked towards the doors. "Just in case!" Kim said. Garroth, concerned asked, "Want me to come with you Kim?" Kim, flabbergasted, said "Whaaat? Pff- nah, I'm good! You guys just search in here! No use in all of us looking outside! Hehe! Be right back!"  "Ooook...bye Kim? Have fun?" I said confuzzled. "Hmmm, odd behavior.." Lucinda said. Aaron sighed "Ugh, just let her check outside. It couldn't hurt." Garroth, quick to save Kim said "I have a better idea. Let's just ask our parents where everything is. Lemme give them a call and, huh?" Garroth pulled out his phone. Garroth, shocked yelled "No service!?" "What'd ya except dude! We're in the woods!?" I sighed. Aaron groaned. "Ugh! We'll have to get the phone's working too... I guess that means we have to look around for ourselves then..." Lucinda pointed something out. "Looks like this is an indoor fireplace." "Sick." I summed up. "Maybe we can start it? Anyone got a match?" Garroth asked everyone. Lucinda looked at her side for her bag. "All my fire spells were in my bag...ahah, ughh.. Darn it." Aaron sighed. "I don't even think that would work. I mean, this thing looks like it runs off of gas. We could probably turn that on next to the fuse box. Maybe we can warm this place up a bit?" Garroth was still trying for Kim. "Right, but uh maybe we should wait for Kim to stop looking around outside in case the fuse box is outside." "Sounds like a good idea. Don't wanna wander around in the dark for nothing." Lucinda said. Aaron nodded. "Right." Me, Garroth, and Lucinda went off on our own, leaving Aaron alone. After a long while of looking Aaron spoke up. "It definitely doesn't look like the fuse box is going to be in here. We should split up into to teams to find it." I nodded agreeing with his idea. Garroth jumped in. "Yeah...it's just this place is so big it's-" Garroth was cut off being high pitched screaming. Kim. "Guysss!" Kim whined. "It's cold and scary outside!" "Well yeah duh." Me and Garroth said at the same time. Garroth continued. "I was wondering why you wanted to go outside?" Kim stuttered  "I-it's because I am not a uh huge fan of the dark..." "Not many are." Aaron said agreeing with Kim. "By the way did you happen to see a fuse box out there?" "U-um no" Kim stuttered. "I don't think it's outside..." I groan. "Oh my god... we're never gonna find that fuse box..." "Ugh..." Aaron sighed. "Then we'll have to stick to the plan." "All right." Garroth said. "Kim and I will search around this way." "Got it." Aaron said. "Lucinda and I will check the other side. Elijah you check upstairs." I nodded. Lucinda stopped before going. "Guys...I don't know if you can feel this but...there's something odd about this place...it feels weird..." "In a bad way?" Aaron asked, confused. "Aaron I don't think there is such a thing as a good weird. I can...kinda feel it too." My wolf ears and tail shot up, just in case of danger. "I'm not sure..." Lucinda informed us "I can't really put my finger on it...but as a warning I think everyone should keep on their toes..." Kim jumped in. "This feels like the setup for a horror movie where someone is going to pop out and kill us!" "Positive thoughts Kim..." I said. "I don't need to feel more on edge..." Garroth laughed, "Kim calm down! Nothing is going to do that." "Come on." Aaron said. "I know this place is old, but it's not that bad...let's get going." "You sure about that..?" I asked, but no one heard me. We all split up. I looked upstairs nothing out of the ordinary, just normal stuff that'd you'd see in a hotel. Was this a hotel? I came back down and saw them all together. I ran over "This place is huge...I don't even know where we can begin." Lucinda sighed. "We divided and only conquered the first and second floor." "Actually..." I said sheepishly. "I couldn't see anything up there so...we only conquered the first floor..." "Great!" Garroth cursed. "Umm..." Kim started. "oh wait! That's right! I forgot when we got out of the car you guys had dropped these letters! I think they're from your parents! You too Elijah, from a guy named Zack?" "Great..." I cursed. "Oh those." Aaron said, remembering. "our parents gave us those when we left!" "What now?" I said, confuzzled. "Let's see..." Garroth said, reading the letter, "oh it's from Dad..! Uh Dear Garroth...if you are reading this...rip up Aaron's and Elijah's notes from their dads...Aaron, Elijah can I rip us your notes..?" He asked us. "No!" we said at the same time, causing Lucinda to chuckle and for me to redden a bit. "Fair enough!" Garroth summed up. "Garroth I'm sure you've noticed by now but even though we're friends, the Lycans, the Ro'Meaves, and Zack Shalashaska, we are often very competitive..." Garroth continued reading his letter, as Aaron started. "Aaron. I know the property is secluded so there's no signal up there, but I need you to fix up the place. We'll be sending you notes to help. Also there might not be internet up here. We didn't want to tell you before because we thought you wouldn't have gone!?" "There's...no...internet!?" Kim yelled in disbelief. "We're going to die!?" I read my letter in my head. It read, Elijah, help your friends and control your emotions. Have fun! Your father Zack. Great letter dad... "Oh don't be a drama queen" Lucinda told Kim. "Garroth continued his letter "The first thing you're going to want to do is turn on the power and the boiler! It's located in the garage." "The garage!" Me, Aaron, and Garroth yelled in unison. We ran in and Aaron found the fuse box and turned it on. "Great! We have power!" "Woo!" Kim sighed. "This make things a little better!" "What about the boiler?" Garroth asked. He clicked the red button as I yelled "Garroth! N-" I was cut off by his scream and an explosion. "Garroth!" Me, Lucinda, Aaron, and Kim yelled rushing to help him. "I'm fine..." He said shakily. "Just a little shaken." "Oh Garroth!" Kim sighed. "Let's get you back inside!" Lucinda, Kim and Garroth went inside and Aaron stopped. "Aaron..?" Then I saw what he saw. An emerald "What's that?" We asked in unison.
