Chapter 10: I Can't Tell Them

They all went home exhausted. They all passed out when they got home. Everyone soon woke up but Aja was still asleep. They tried to wake her but she didn't. "Come on, Aja! Get up!" They said and she groaned. "Come on, babe!" Eva said as she shook Aja. "Hmm?" Aja groaned and Eva got annoyed. "You have until the count of three to get up," She said. "Uh huh, that's nice, babe. I'll be right over," Aja yawned and went back to sleep. "We'll wait in the lab," The other said and left for the lab. Eva ran up and jumped onto Aja. "Ah! Fuck!" Aja said. "I said that you had to the count of three to get up," Eva said. "But I'm just so tired, let me rest here a bit with you. It's been a while since we just had peace with just the two of us. After just five more minutes then I'll get up, I promise," Aja said. "Okay, just five more minutes," Eva said and just layed there on Aja's chest. 

She closed her eyes and heard Aja's heartbeat. 'It's so calm. It's never this calm, she's finally calming down. I'm glad, it's almost relaxing. I could just fall asleep listening to it. This is the Aja I fell in love with all those years ago,' Eva thought as she drifted off asleep. Then Aja woke up and looked at her. "She's the one who said only five minutes," Aja said and noticed the grip Eva had on her. Aja sighed and got out of the hammock. She put Eva on her back and carried her.

Once they got to the lab the gang looked at her. "What happened?" Doc asked. "She was the one who said to get up in five minutes then fell asleep on me. So I carried her here," Aja chuckled and they looked at the sleeping girl. "Yeah, she got a tight grip on you too," Shin said. "Yeah, anyway. What did you want to show me?" Aja asked. "It's not what we wanted to show you, it's what we wanted to ask you," Turbo said. "It fell out of your back, what is it?" Gwen asked as she showed Aja a ring. Aja was filled with fear as she looked at the ring. She panicked and everyone could tell. Her breathing and heart rate sped up a bit. 'Oh no. Not that thing. Not again. Why does this always happen? What do I do?' Aja asked herself when a soft voice ripped her away from her thoughts. "Aja, are you okay? Your heart rate sped up a lot," Eva said. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine,"Aja said and they all looked at her. 

"It's yours right?" Max asked and Aja reached out with her right hand. But she was trying to fight the urge to grab it. She grabbed her risk to stop herself. "No, I don't know how that got in my bag. You should keep it for now, Doc," Aja said. Then her curse mark started to show. Aja quickly pulled her arm back. "If that's all, I got something to do, I'll see you guys later!" Aja said and ran out. She put Eva in her hammock and left for a walk. 

Once she got far enough from the base she sat down. She sat down and grabbed her arm. "I almost lost it for a second," Aja said to herself. "Aja..." A whisper said and the breeze changed. "Aja... Aja..." It said and she saw a shadow walking towards her. She panicked but then it disappeared. "Aja..." Its whisper rang through her head like a light bell. She felt a pain in her arm. She noticed the curse was showing. She started to get visions that terrified her. When a soft voice and a warm touch woke her up from her trance. "Aja, hey. Calm down," Eva said and Aja looked over at her. Eva saw the fear in her eyes then she noticed that Aja was grabbing her risk and that it was shaking a lot. "Aja-" Before Eva could say another word Aja pulled her into a hug. Eva could feel Aja shaking with fear. She didn't say anything she just kept her close.

The next day Aja just stayed in the room with Eva while everyone else was busy. She was mostly on her phone while Eva was reading a book in her lap. As long as she was with Eva she was fine. Everyone was worried but didn't ask about it. They stayed like that for a while until it was time Aja's appointment. Aja groaned as she got up. Eva looked at her. "I gotta go, I'll be back soon," Aja said and left the room. Then the gang walked in. "Okay, what's going on with her?" They asked. "I don't know. I found her in the field terrified the other day. Of what? I don't know," Eva said and they stood there for a moment just to think. "Well, after she comes from Doc's lab then we can ask him if she tells him. Doc and her brothers are the ones she usually goes to," Shin said and they agreed.

Aja walked into the lab to find Doc there. "You wanted to talk?" She asked. "Yeah, but we have to wait until everyone gets here. I just sent them a message and they should be here any minute," Doc said and then the gang walked in. "Okay, so we can start now. Aja, remember that day you let me take a blood sample for the suit?" Doc asked. "Yeah? What about it?" Aja asked. "It didn't match the one I took the other day. Well I analyzed it for a while thinking it was a glitch in the system, but it's not. Every time I think I find it, it goes away. Please look at the screen," Doc said and they looked at the screen. It was a pie chart. "It shows what you are. So right now it's showing a 100% dragon but then every few minutes..." Doc stopped and then the screen glitched to show something else. "This happens and something unknown pops up on the screen but then it goes away before I can figure out what it is. Do you have an idea of what that is?" Doc asked. 

Everyone looked at Aja and she didn't say anything. "It's something I don't know and don't want to know. I have no idea where it came from," Aja said...
