Rui woke up with partially dried tears streaking his face.
Why did I need to have a dream like that?
The alchemist ran his fingers over his cheek, feeling the trails of wetness.
What a cruel dream that was. Especially since Rui knew that the future star had killed himself months ago.
The alchemist wished that there was actually an alternate reality like that... One where he and Tsukasa ended up together, one where Tsukasa wasn't dead. One where Nene hadn't moved away and stayed with Rui until the end. One where Emu wasn't just an imaginary friend whose only purpose was to keep Rui from going insane.
A universe where the only disease Rui had was diabetes and would allow him to live. Where it hadn't cut his life short and forced him to die at seventeen. Where he was not expected to die within the next month.
His dream was like salt to all those wounds.
That dream in particular was mean.
Just like the way that none of this happened in the real story and the author's just being mean.
