City Girls

It took a few minutes of following the sparse cars in the forest before they finally found the highway. Within seconds of being on the highway they found the sign hanging in the air. 'SEATTLE NEXT THREE EXITS'.

"Holy shit we finally made it." Renae said as she hugged Ellie's back. Ellie didn't say anything, just continued forward. They went past all of the stranded cars, and construction that had been halted. There was a little transmittable shed that the pair decided to stop at and search before entering the city. The only thing they ended up finding was a few bullets and a map of seattle.

"This could come in handy later." Ellie said as she put it into her bag. Renae continued to search and found a half full box of tampons.

"Found gold!" She said as she did a little dance with the box.

"Sick find!" Ellie said as she went to high five Renae. Renae accepted the high five and walked back out to Shimmer. The two continued to ride and quietly chat until they came across the first strip of barbed wire.  Then they were silent. They both were thinking the same thing. What if there were hunters like Ellie had mentioned? What if they were waiting to pounce onto them and kill them for their loot? That was even horrific to think about. The two both unclasped their guns from the holsters, and were on high alert.

The QZ was supposed to have people. But it had no one outside. It felt vacant and desolate. Ellie got off of Shimmer first, while Renae stayed on just in case they both had to run. Ellie looked and couldn't see anyone, so Renae got off of Shimmer and walked over to the small trailer that Ellie went into.

"There's supposed to be guards, or people here." Ellie said.

"I wonder what happened to them." Renae said as she walked out and crouched down to look at a dead body. "Look, here's a FEDRA officer." She pointed to the hat on the corpses head. Ellie sighed, before continuing to look around. She eventually saw a huge mural painted on the QZ wall.

TRESPASSERS KILLED ON SIGHT

"At least we know we're in the right place." Ellie said as she pointed, and pulled out her journal to sketch. Renae just looked in shock. She honestly had hoped that the WLF weren't here and they could just go back home where it was safe. That was a selfish thought though. After a minute they widened the search to the other trailers next to the entrance of the deserted QZ.

Renae also looked at the small area outside After finding little to nothing. "What are these jail cells here for?"

"If people were infected or under arrest they would be put here. The Boston ones were always busy." Ellie said as she grabbed an old rag from inside of a cell. She continued to scavenge, and saw a way to possibly get inside. She climbed on top of the trailer they had been inside before and hopped over to what looked like an emergency fire escape. She saw a ladder, but it was high."Hey Renae, could you give me a boost?" Renae nodded and climbed up to join her, and then crouched into position. Ellie put her foot into Renae's hands as she jumped and grasped onto the ladders last prong. She climbed to the platform and looked down to a smiling Renae.

"That was sick as fuck Ellie!" Renae shouted as she looked up to Ellie, who behind the sun looked heavenly. Renae climbed back down to the ground, and started to pet Shimmer as Ellie started to meticulously weave through the fire escape. But then Ellie did something extremely risky. She jumped from one platform to another, and almost fell from over fifty feet. "Ellie?!" Renae ran over to under where she was and saw Ellie grasp her chest before holding out a thumbs up.

"All good!" Ellie said, as she finally got through the wall. Renae let out a sigh of relief as she went and grabbed Shimmer by the reigns and guided her over to the door. After a painstaking moment and a heavy noise, Ellie opened a small flap in the door. Renae ran up.
