'Okay Austin, since you can't be trusted to have an Easter egg hunt with a two year old, there's one for you and Taylor set up outside now', Andrea announces to the group gathered in the living room, making Taylor laugh.
It's the Saturday of Easter weekend, and she, Travis and Matilda had flown in to Nashville this morning to spend some time with her family. Tomorrow, they'd be flying to Philly, where Kylie and Jason were hosting Easter Sunday lunch and she and Matilda would meet Travis' nieces for the first time.
They'd spent the week between their vacation and now in LA, soaking up the last totally free week they both had before Travis started taping Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity? And she fully concentrated on the promo for TTPD. In their little engagement bubble, they'd agreed to keep it to themselves for now - sharing it with friends and family, yes, but not the wider world. When the time came, they would, but they were enjoying having the secret to themselves.
Andrea had prepared brunch for them all this morning, and Taylor was so excited to show Travis Nashville, the city that had embraced and moulded her when she was just a young, frizzy haired teenager trying to make her dream come true. The whole family was there: Scott, Austin, Sydney, plus a couple of her aunts and cousins; as well as Abigail and her husband. It was loud and fun and chaotic, and it made Taylor smile that Travis fit in so perfectly.
Matilda was the only child there, and so she was completely spoiled by the number of Easter gifts and chocolate eggs she was presented with. Andrea had set up a little Easter egg hunt for her, and Scott had happily filmed her toddling in the grass, searching for them.
Now, though, Matilda was down for a nap, and Andrea had returned from the garden to tell her two children their Easter egg hunt was ready. 'This year, though, we're doing teams. Travis and Taylor, Austin and Sydney. 10 points for each regular egg, 20 for a golden one. There's 5 golden, and no I won't give you any clues', she explains the rules, handing baskets to the four of them. 'Oh and Austin, there's points deducted for pushing your sister. No blocking either, Travis', she warns the boys, who sheepishly dip their heads.
They're let loose in the garden, and all of them are laughing, enjoying the silly game. Travis finds a golden egg hidden in one of Andrea's flowerpots, while Taylor finds one on a lower branch of a tree, Austin finding two further eggs on the other side. It's pretty even stevens, the regular eggs all collected, when it seems like Taylor and Austin both spot the last golden one underneath one of the deck chairs.
'Out of the way, Teffy, this one's mine!', Austin jeers as he pushes Taylor back down the porch steps, Travis catching her from behind. 'Hey, ref!', he shouts, Andrea and Scott giggling at the two of them as Austin holds the final golden egg triumphantly, and Travis inspects Taylor's wrist to ensure she isn't hurt.
After the counting is finished, Andrea gathers them together to announce the winner. 'Okay, Travis and Taylor, you collected more regular eggs than the others, but they collected 3 out of 5 golden eggs', she begins, and Taylor immediately begins to pout. 'However, Austin didn't play by the rules, which means he forfeits his last golden egg, and Taylor and Travis win'.
Travis cheers, picking Taylor up and spinning her around, making her laugh. 'In your face, Aus, that's the fifth year in a row!', she taunts her brother, until her mother reminds her she's a mother herself, and she should act with a little more decorum.
Matilda wakes up from all the commotion, and Travis can hear her on the baby monitor app on his phone. Taylor's about to go, poised at the door, but he stops her, saying, 'Go get ready for dinner baby, I'll change her', before heading upstairs.
They're all headed out to eat tonight, at a private members' restaurant in the city, and Taylor feels comfortable enough that they won't be disturbed to wear her engagement ring proudly on her finger. She can't help but stare at it every time she lifts her wine glass, the diamond glinting in the low light of the restaurant, and Travis catches her staring, lifting her hand to his mouth to kiss her knuckles.
