When she regained consciousness, Fang Yuxi had a tear in the corner of her eye. She opened her eyes and wiped away the tears in her eyes. She thought her tears had dried up long ago, but she didn't expect that there would still be tears in her eyes.

But Fang Yuxi was dumbfounded by her own actions. Confusion swept over her. How had her hands become so small and her skin so smooth and tender? She knew she was an old woman in her eighties; her hands should be full of wrinkles, her skin loose enough to pinch. What had happened?

Fang Yuxi sat up from the bed in surprise, only to be greeted by a sudden sharp pain in her head, as though countless needles were pricking her. She instinctively grasped her head and collapsed onto the hard quilt, gritting her teeth and refusing to budge, fearing that any movement would exacerbate the throbbing ache.

Finally, the headache slowly subsided, and Fang Yuxi cautiously attempted to move. Despite the lingering ache in her head and the dizziness she felt, Fang Yuxi was relieved to realize that she was still alive.

Half an hour later, Fang Yuxi found herself experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, tears and laughter mingling together. She was astonished to realize that she had been reborn at the age of six years old, thrust back into the tumultuous era of 1966.

Fang Yuxi found herself unable to articulate the emotions swirling within her heart. On one hand, there was a sense of happiness enveloping her; her previous life had been undeniably exhausting. On the other hand, there was a profound sense of unease. She couldn't ignore the fact that she had been granted a second chance by some higher power—a stroke of luck not everyone was afforded.

Lying on the shabby bedding, Fang Yuxi gazed blankly at the ceiling, her mind drifting back to her past. The memories of a six-year-old girl carried the weight of a lifetime, lending her thoughts a somber hue that belied her tender age.

Her life could indeed be described as a tragic saga. Born in 1960, a time marked by widespread famine where desperation drove people to eat anything edible, even dirt, Fang Yuxi entered a world of hardship. Her mother cradled her in her arms, when everyone was looking for more food. Both of Fang Yuxi's parents were orphans after the war.

Her father had already joined the army when he was very young. Though fortunate enough to survive the tumultuous landscape of China, his luck took a turn for the worse while aiding Country C. In the throes of battle, he lost one of his legs, leaving a permanent mark of his dedication on the foreign battlefield.

Xiang Qian did not want to drag down the country. Although he was already a regiment leader at the time, he still refused the army's arrangement and managed to drag one leg back to his hometown of Dongsheng Village with a meager pension. He used the pension to build the best house in the village at that time. They lived in a three-bedroom house made of bricks and tiles. After being introduced by the villagers, he married her mother, He Zhier, who was also a war orphan in the same village, and made a living by farming.

Life for Fang Yuxi's parents during her childhood was marked by extreme difficulty, which took a toll on their health. Despite being married for five or six years, they struggled with infertility and faced almost desperate circumstances before finally conceiving Fang Yuxi. Her arrival coincided with the most challenging period of their lives.

One must understand the severity of the times. It was not uncommon for people to starve to death, let alone have enough to eat. Leaves and weeds were considered life-saving sustenance, and it was under such dire circumstances that He Zhier brought Fang Yuxi into this world.
