The story of six diverse teenagers from different tribal groups in North Borneo is one of courage, resilience, and friendship. These teenagers, all from the rural areas of Borneo, were chosen on scholarship to attend an agricultural college in Queensland, Australia. Little did they know, their journey would be filled with challenges and struggles, but also unforgettable experiences and lifelong friendships.

Growing up in remote villages, these teenagers were raised in tribal communities with their own traditions, rituals, and ways of life. They belonged to different tribal groups like the Kadazandusun, Iban, Murut, and Bajau, each with their own unique cultural practices. However, despite their differences, they shared a common dream – to pursue higher education and make a better life for themselves and their families.

Their dreams came true when they were selected for the scholarship to attend the agricultural college in Australia. For many of them, it was their first time leaving their villages and traveling abroad. The excitement and anticipation of living in a new country and learning about modern farming techniques were quickly replaced with feelings of alienation and homesickness.

As they stepped into a completely different world, they faced the harsh reality of being a minority in a foreign land. Being the only Asian students in a primarily Caucasian school, they felt isolated and different. Some of their classmates even made fun of their traditional clothing and customs, making them feel like outsiders. The cultural shock was immense, and they struggled to find a sense of belonging in a place so far from their homes.

To make matters worse, the six teenagers also experienced bullying from some of their classmates. They were called names and ridiculed for their accents and cultural practices. It was a difficult and trying time for them, but they were determined to not let these challenges bring them down. They drew strength from each other and found solace in their shared struggles.

As time went on, they found unexpected friendships with the most unlikely of persons – their bullies. Slowly, they broke down barriers and bridged the cultural differences through understanding and acceptance. Their bullies began to see them not as outsiders, but as individuals with unique stories and experiences to share. The six teenagers' resilience and willingness to forgive and move on taught their classmates a valuable lesson in empathy and respect.

Aside from their academic studies, the six teenagers also wanted to share their own cultural heritage with their Australian classmates. They organized cultural performances and workshops to showcase their traditional dances, music, and crafts. Through these activities, they not only shared a piece of their home but also gained a deeper appreciation for their own culture.

Despite the challenges they faced, these six teenagers never forgot where they came from. They often shared stories of their tribal communities, tales of head hunting, and the intricate rituals of their people. They also bonded over their love for the outdoors and embarked on a memorable adventure together – climbing Mount Kinabalu.
