The best people carry scars

Beneath layers of clothes
But they still hold power
As they continue to grow

Others are on display
For all the world to see
But they don't define them
They're simply part of their journey

They've walked through darkness
And emerged into the light
They've been broken and bruised
But they refused to lose the fight

Their scars tell tales
Of battles they've won
Of standing tall and strong
When others would have run

They wear their scars proudly
For they've earned every one
And through their pain and struggles
Their true beauty has shone

So when you meet someone
With scars on their skin
Know that they are the best people
For they've been through hell and back again

Their scars may not be pretty
But they're a symbol of their worth
